Think a little rain stops the paddle? Think again! Kayaking in mountain weather is an absolute vibe—as long as you know how it works.

Here is the quick breakdown on how summer afternoon weather on Big Bear Lake goes down:

Passing Showers = Epic Views: Mountain rain often rolls in fast and clears out just as quickly, leaving behind crisp mountain air, cool breezes, and incredible lake views.

Liquid Sunshine: A light sprinkle won’t close down the lake! Just toss on a light waterproof jacket or windbreaker and enjoy having the water mostly to yourself.

Safety First, Always: While light rain is totally fine to paddle through, safety is our top priority. If lightning pops up or thunder starts rolling, we ask everyone to paddle to the nearest shore right away until the storm passes.
