My favorite thing about my job? Getting to watch families grow and kiddos grow up! 🥹💙

Having families trust me, believe in me and my instructors, year after year and sibling after sibling, is truly the biggest blessing. We have never advertised swim lessons—word of mouth has always kept our pool (and waitlist!) full—and for that, we are SO incredibly thankful!

This little one is the third kiddo in her family to swim with me, and it feels like just yesterday her mom was announcing her pregnancy. And now she’s 4 years old?! 🥹

It’s truly crazy how quickly time flies and how fast these little ones go from chubby-cheeked infants to preschoolers with big personalities (and even bigger opinions! 😂).

This week, we’re celebrating her 4th birthday and looking back at her very first lessons with me at just a few months old. Getting to be a small part of her journey—and her family’s journey—for the past four years is something I never take for granted. 💙

And speaking of time flying… this October, Seahorse will celebrate 10 years open in Central Oregon! 🥳

Before opening Seahorse, I taught for two years here in Central Oregon under another pool’s name, so this October marks 12 years of teaching swim lessons in Central Oregon and 10 years of Seahorse. It has been a WILD ride, and I’m so excited to share more of our journey with you in the weeks leading up to our 10-year anniversary on October 16th!

"Can my kids take swim lessons together?" 💙

This is one of the questions we get asked the most, and our answer is always no.

We know many swim schools offer sibling or group lessons, and we completely understand why. Business wise, it makes sense to push more kids together and make more money. But our priority has never been fitting more students into the same time slot—it's making sure every child gets the individual attention they deserve.

When you're paying for a lesson, we want your child to be learning, not spending half the class waiting for their turn.

So... why are these two brothers swimming together? 👀

This is actually little brother's lesson. At first, he had some separation anxiety, so we invited big brother into the water to help him feel comfortable. Since big brother has been swimming with us since he was a baby, we knew he'd be the perfect helper.

Now little brother is thriving, and having his biggest cheerleader by his side has made all the difference. ❤️

Mom is only paying for one lesson. Big brother isn't taking a lesson—he's simply helping his little brother build confidence.

Every child learns differently, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. We're always looking for the best way to help each individual child learn this life-saving skill... and sometimes, that means an emotional support sibling!🫶🌊

Because sometimes all you need is a song and a snuggle. ❤️
Before we teach swimming, we build trust.
This little guy already knows how to float on his own, go underwater, and roll onto his back. But even the most capable little swimmers have hard days.
Instead of pushing through, we slowed down. We cuddled, sang a song, and reminded him he was safe. Once he was ready, we got back to work.
The skills we teach save lives—but the relationships we build are what make those skills possible. When our swimmers know they're safe, they find the confidence to do amazing things.
We love what we do, and we love every one of our little swimmers!

🌊 Registration is Now Open for Water Babies at Seahorse Academy – Starting in July!
Our Water Babies classes are designed for children 7 weeks to 23 months old and their grown-up. This 8-class session provides a fun, supportive environment where little ones can build confidence in the water while developing important water safety skills. We encourage families to continue with us from session to session so swimmers can consistently build on their progress.

Our program allows each child to learn at their own pace, with a focus on both water confidence and lifesaving skills. We want every child to enjoy the water while also learning the foundational skills that could help them stay safe in the event of an accidental fall into the water.

Classes include a balance of songs, play, and guided activities that make learning fun while introducing age-appropriate water safety techniques. Each class consists of 15–20 minutes of instructor-led instruction, followed by 10–15 minutes of supervised family swim time, for a total class time of 30 minutes.

As swimmers become more independent and begin showing signs that they're ready for the next step—such as slower progress in the group setting or increased independence during class—they will graduate to private lessons. Water Babies graduates receive priority access to private lessons, allowing them to bypass our current waitlist.

Completing the registration form and submitting payment secures your spot. If you are able to register and pay, you are officially enrolled.
Please double-check the day and time before completing your registration, as classes fill quickly.

Membership Requirement:
In addition to class tuition, each family is required to have a Seahorse Academy membership. Membership is $75 per family, is valid for one year from your first class, and is due at your first class by check.
