"Ojek" is a hired motorcycle service from base camp to trailhead. We were three on a motorcycle with all our gear. 😓
This is not uncommon in Indonesia. Gladly, no one was hurt. But now we have a story to tell and remember for a long, long time. 🥰🙏

Bound4Adventure officially launched in 2011, but the journey started long before that. I started taking my children hiking when they were very young. My children Adam and Judi were toddlers when I took them on multiday backpacking trips.

Those experiences helped shape the way I see adventure today: it should be meaningful, accessible, and tailored to the people experiencing it.

Over the years, I’ve traveled to 20+ countries across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America, while continuing to explore hiking, backpacking, family adventure, and outdoor travel.

My passion isn’t simply visiting destinations—it’s figuring out how to experience them well. Now I’m excited to take Bound4Adventure into its next chapter as a advisor, combining my outdoor and travel experience with professional trip-planning resources.

In 2017, we backpacked into the Grand Teton wilderness with our young children for one unforgettable reason—to witness the Great American Eclipse.

The miles were long, the packs were heavy, and little legs got tired. But standing together beneath a sky that slowly turned to twilight in the middle of the day made every step worthwhile.

Some adventures are measured in distance. The best ones are measured in memories. This was one of them—a reminder that sharing nature’s greatest moments with children is a gift they’ll carry for a lifetime. 🌒🏕️⛰️

⚠️ watch till the end.

The adventure started long before the climb.

An early morning ojek (hired motorbike) ride winding through the villages and mountain roads toward the Sindoro trailhead was an experience in itself.

Sometimes the journey to the mountain is just as meaningful as the summit. Sitting on the back of that ojek reminded us that adventure begins the moment you leave your comfort zone.

Next stop: Gunung Sindoro. ⛰️🏍️

Nine years after life brought us back together, my son and I stood side by side on the slopes of Gunung Sindoro.

Standing above the clouds, watching the sunrise over Central Java, made every aching muscle worth it. Mountains have a unique way of bringing people together, turning shared challenges, breathtaking views, and unforgettable journeys into lasting bonds and cherished memories.
