The AKC Canine Ambassador presentation on Therapy Dog Etiquette & Information presented by the Crow Hill Vet Paws for Health Fit Dog Club, went well. We only got about halfway through the course.
It is a 6-week course but we crammed through what we could for an hour and a half. The attendees asked if I could do the other half later so I'm going to try to do it through the library again. Stay posted for that date. Today's starring attractions were Epic and Quigley.
Quigley is a therapy dog through First Responders. Epic is a therapy dog through Comfort Canines for Christ. Had plenty of attendees so it was fun.

Three of the Crow Hill Vet Paws For Health fetch try out students got their Novice Fetch titles today and trying for more tomorrow. Daisy, Mimir ,and Beau.

One hour of info on this at the library free on Therapy dog and handler ettiquette and info.

The advanced course for the dogs and handlers is actually 6 weeks at the Crow Hill Vet Paws For Health Training building where we teach the dogs the skills to do this and the tricks to keep it fun.

Escape Artist Prevention Run, 1 mile (Virtual run)
June 10 -July 1st 2026
4th of July is coming, so think ahead and keep your active doggers busy and healthy. This pup's cone is not backwards, it just prevents her from diving through the field fence openings. Also a nice perk is she does not jump up so much with this rig on.. Makes for a polite easy to handle pup for her elderly owner. Getting rewarded for sitting without a lot of fuss over jumping.
Pups have to be 6 months old to walk so keep the little escape artists from following ya when you walk the adults and older pups. Have fun out there as Summer flies by.

National Pet Preparedness Month - walk one mile. June 10th-24 2016
In the case of emergency how prepared are you? In traveling we may forget we need to carry certain things . This does depend on where you will be taking walks in recreational or wilderness areas. Be prepared for snakes, wildlife and be watchful of babies being guarded by protective mommas.
Wildfire season soon will be upon us as well as at this time the high water in the rivers and creeks . Our job is be prepared and keep our critters out of harms way.

June 1st Mysterious RU had a ball representing a megafauna carnivore at the Summer reading program AKC K-9 Ambassador program. At her feet is a Saber toothed tiger skull the kids got to touch and check out, and the shoulder bone from a young bison used to let the kids feel the shape, weight, and texture of a larger bone before they looked at the photos of the same shoulder bone over 6 feet long next to a sitting service dog for comparison in a museum. The mask was 13 inches in length like a dire wolf skull is in size and I pulled it on and off so they could so how big that was in comparison to a normal sized modern retriever.

If you choose to submit the paperwork to AKC for a Fit Dog title.
AKC charges a fee for processing those.
