⚾ BYS Opening Day Weather Updates ⚾

We are closely monitoring the weather forecast for Opening Day this Saturday.

🌧 Rain vs Lightning
Rain alone does not always cancel baseball.
The biggest concern is lightning.
Per our safety rules:
⚡ If lightning strikes within 10 miles of the park, all fields must clear immediately.
⏱ Games must be delayed 30 minutes.
🔁 The 30-minute clock resets with every lightning strike within 10 miles.
These rules will determine whether games are delayed or able to continue.

Hello Friends, Families, urrent and Former Members,
For 60 years, Balcones Youth Sports has been, and still is, a completely volunteer-run organization - a safe place where Austin kids learn teamwork, confidence, and friendship.
This year, despite an increase in the Parks and Recreation budget and the largest proposed tax increase in Austin's history, the City of Austin decided to end the $50,000 annual utility stipend that has been in place for decades This stipend was spread out across multiple ballparks across Austin and helped nonprofit organizations like ours directly offset their Austin water bills.
We were given 45 days notice that this program was cut from the new city budget due to "Austin’s historical legacy of racial segregation" All of this while proposing spending more than $379,000 in new pet projects.

So, we’re taking proactive steps to secure our future.
If our fundraiser is successful, we’ll drill a sustainable groundwater well and repair our fencing, keeping our 16-acre facility safe, green, and community-owned.

CHAMPIONS! 🏆⚾️ The Railhawks finish the Centex tournament UNDEFEATED and flying high as 8U CHAMPS!

These boys brought the energy, the hustle, and the heart — and they did it together. No pressure, just pure fun and fearless baseball. From Day 1 to the final out, they played the Railhawk way, with class, grace, and professionalism. Each and every one of them grew as baseball players, as friends, and as teammates.

Huge shoutout to our coaches who showed up every practice ready to give selflessly, families who traveled and supported the players at every practice and game, and fans who cheered them on every step of the way.

Hopefully, the first of many to come.
