Held Wednesday through the last weekend in October, the Tex Robertson Highland Lakes Challenge is the World's first open water swimming stage race, with its swim stages held in the beautiful Texas Hill Country Highland Lakes. "Monster Challenge" swimmers make their way down the chain of lakes through Lake Buchanan, Inks Lake, Lake LBJ, Marble Falls, and Lake Travis from Wednesday-Sunday. This spec
ial event, named in honor of swimming legend and Camp Longhorn founder, Tex Robertson, provides a challenging course, differing scenery, and enjoyable swim-camaraderie. The Inks Lake leg is noted as "Tex’s Darn Challenge, in honor of Robertson's favorite swim from Camp Longhorn to the Inks Lake "Darn." Swimmers entering the Monster Challenge race 2-4+ miles in 5 lakes in 5 consecutive days. Weekend Warrior Monster Challengers race 2-3 miles in 3 lakes in 3 consecutive weekend days (Fri/Sat/Sun).
