Happy little trees. I’m perfecting my process for creating deep shadows and gradations of shadow on the snowy boughs. These trees are a little bigger than what I typically work with for a terrain map and this has been an interesting piece of this particular map puzzle.

I’m realizing I never shared the final product of my efforts last summer to capture a new map for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s dynamic Via Ferrata. Translating to “iron way,” Via Ferrata date back to WWI when Italian soldiers built these routes to more safely traverse rugged mountain passes. Jackson Hole offers 20 unique routes and the most comprehensive Via Ferrata in the nation!
