Heading home from another great event in Chicago! How about Angelle Sampey and her Hangsterfers car? Through 3 national events in 2026 she has a pair of #1 qualifiers, a #2 qualifier, 5 round wins, and a runner-up finish this weekend. Last year was a steep learning curve with her change to the ex-Top Fuel canopy car, but the full team’s hard work at the track and in the shop is now paying dividends. Angelle returns to action next in two weeks in Maryland.

We are not where we need to be with our Blue Energy Nation car, but we will work hard to get it headed in the right direction before it’s next event at the Norwalk Regional in just over a month.

It was another strong weekend for the full MBR team at zMAX DRAGWAY with several standout performance metrics.

- 5.182 - Angelle Sampey ran low E.T. of the race during Q3 and clocked the only sub-5.20 second run of the event. This now stands as the quickest pass in MBR history.
- 281.54MPH - the second fastest MPH of the event and a new career best speed for Corey Michalek during E1
- #1 - for the second national event in a row, Angelle Sampey started raceday from the pole position
- .017 - low reaction time of the session during E1 for Corey Michalek
- .034 - low reaction time of the session during E2 for Corey Michalek (tied with Joey Severance)
- 2 - Angelle won her opening round of eliminations on a double holeshot to advance to E2

Lots to be excited about as we close the books on our second national event of the season!

- For the second race in a row, Angelle Sampey led the field as #1 qualifier with the team’s quickest pass ever - a 5.182 at just under 278MPH.
- MBR’s Blue Energy Nation hot rod ripped off a 281.54MPH pass during E1 to reset both the car and driver’s top speed.
- Both cars again advanced out of first round as they did in Gainesville to start the year.

We had a good first day of qualifying in Charlotte yesterday! We’re sitting 8th and 9th with a pair of 5.32 second laps with two more rounds of qualifying this afternoon and first round of eliminations this evening. Let’s have a great day!

With the IHRA returning to Virginia Motorsports Park this weekend, it reminds us of one of the more eventful runs we've had in the Top Alcohol Dragster class. In 2023 we squared off against John Ausherman in first round of eliminations and it was a gnarly pedalfest win followed by having no parachutes in the shutdown area.
