Come learn intermediate techniques with Ivan this Saturday from 10am-12pm. Ivan will be focusing on stacking & spinning deer hair, how to, why to, and when to use these techniques. You'll build your fly, give it a haircut, and watch your skills improve as your fly comes to life right before your eyes.

Tying seminars run 2 hours. Bring your vise, tying tools, and thread, and tie along with us. Learn tips, tricks, and special techniques creating amazing flies that will help you catch more fish. Our Saturday Seminars cover a range of topics - from regional and seasonal fly patterns, fishing clinics, casting instruction, destination and hosted travel, local guided trips, and information for fishing for everything from local to exotic species.

Sculpins populate warmwater and coldwater rivers all over the United States and blend in so well with the river bottom that you doin't see them. But smallmouth bass and trout do. And they like them rare, with a side of fresh cranefly and scud salad. Often the strikes are violent, and trout will even "shark" your fly - creating a v-wake across the surface of the water and they chase your fly all the way back to your rod tip. Scary cello music sold separately. That poor Kintner boy.

The mayfly is a long studied and loved trout stream insect that epitomize what fly fishing is all about. Artists, fishers, and writers wax poetic about the beautiful sailboat-winged insect that you see floating down rivers en masse, having their lifecycle interrupted by a stealthy trout sitting just below the surface while sipping on the emerging insects. The first mention of the mayfly dates back to 2000 BCE in the "Epic Of Gilgamesh", a tale of the life of the Babylonian ruler, and was written on clay tablets.

Today we celebrate all the dads that deserve breakfast in bed, an afternoon casting to panfish, a cold b**r and a hot dog at a barbecue, and maybe a nap on the recliner today.

But not only are we wishing happy Father’s Day to all the dads we know and love because we share DNA with them, but also to the dads that stepped up to make sure we had a father figure around. Step dads. Uncles. Neighbors. Mentors and teachers and counselors. The ones that supported you because they saw potential. The one that takes you fishing or teaches you how to throw a baseball or explains electricity or shows you how to be observant or kind or responsible.

Happy Father’s Day. To ALL the dads, even if you don’t have the title.

Today, amidst the time spent on the water, with family and friends, in front of a grill, or on a boat casting to your favorite fish, we acknowledge the brave men and women that have sacrificed for their country and shall never be forgotten.

While we were able to thank some of our local veterans for their service with time on the water this Memorial Day holiday, we understand that freedom isn’t free and we encourage you to take the time to remember those who have laid down their lives.

Fly Tying Clinic - The March Brown (Intermediate)

The common name March Brown is a well-known mayfly that hatches on both sides of the country, and across the pond in the UK. The English version hatches in the month of March, hence the name. Although they are distinctly different species, they look similar and we embrace them as one of the most fun hatches to match. On the Delaware, they're a big size #10!

If you're attending our hosted Delaware trip in early May, you should absolutely come learn to fill your box so you don't run out on the trip.

Trying to find a place to catch big trout in May? Come fish with us on the West Branch of the Delaware at a private getaway. We'll be fishing for big, wild brown and rainbow trout, float and wade fishing, with a private chef who'll cook our first night and leave prepared meals for us for one reason only - we might be fishing into darkness! It's big March Brown season that time of year.
