While cleaning underneath the locker room benches, we discovered years’ worth of gum stuck to the bottom. Apparently, those benches have been serving as an unofficial gum storage facility. 😅

We’re working hard to clean up and improve these facilities, and we need everyone’s help to keep them that way! Just a friendly reminder: please don’t stick your gum underneath the benches or seats. There are trash cans right inside the locker rooms, ready and waiting for it. 🗑️

One piece of gum might not seem like a big deal, but after 10+ years... well, it turns into this.

Help us keep the arena clean and moving in the right direction—one less piece of gum at a time! 🏒

Have you ever wondered how ice rinks get painted? Well, here's a time lapse of Ben Boeke rink 1 getting its first coat of paint! It's a delicate process, but the ACIM ice crew is in good hands with savvy veteran ice installer Gene "iceman" Tichenor leading the way. We're excited about how it turned out, and can't wait to get people back in the building, and on the ice!

🚨 OPEN HOUSE UPDATE 🚨

Due to an unfortunate break-in at Dempsey Anderson Ice Arena on Thursday, August 13. We have made the difficult decision to postpone our Open House originally scheduled for Friday, August, 21.

While this is certainly not the way we wanted to start this next chapter, it has given us an opportunity to take a step back and remind everyone what goes into operating and maintaining our community ice arenas.

These facilities are more than just sheets of ice. They are places where kids learn to skate, teams compete, families come together, and where our community creates memories. Keeping them open and improving them takes an incredible amount of work, and sometimes that work includes dealing with challenges that are completely unexpected.

While we continue to work through the trials and tribulations we remain focused on improving the facilities, strengthening security, and building facilities that our entire community can be proud of.

The Open House is not cancelled — it is being postponed. We are working on a new date that will give us the opportunity to properly bring the community together and showcase the progress and improvements taking place at Dempsey Anderson and Ben Boeke Ice arenas respectively.

We appreciate the patience, understanding, and support from our community.

We will share the new date as soon as one is known.

While the Anchorage skating community is sleeping, our team of ice installation professionals were..... hard at work bringing the ice back to life.

Through the night they flooded, froze, measured, painted, and perfected—because great ice doesn’t just happen. It takes patience, precision, and a crew willing to work while the rest of us dream.

No capes required… although they certainly deserve them.

MUST REGISTER AHEAD ONLINE

We're bringing the fun and creativity of outdoor pond hockey indoors for our very first Pond Hockey sessions on Monday August 10th, 2026.

No systems. No coaches. No whistles. Come out, throw sticks, pick teams and enjoy some great hockey with plenty of puck touches, creativity, and fun.

Where | Dempsey Anderson Ice Arena – Rink 1 (DA1)

Adult Session (18+)
🕛 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM

Youth Session (Ages 14+)
🕔 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Only $12 per Player (Limited to 20 skaters per session – Register TODAY)
Goalies skate FREE! (Maximum of 4 goalies – separate registration required)
