Summer camp at the YMCA is off to a busy start. Our campers visited Dixie caverns.
They spent a day making bricks, marbles, and learning how to write using a quill pen at Poplar Forest.
This week, thanks to the generosity of Lane Memorial United
Methodist Church, Kona Ice stopped by the Family Center site so our campers and staff could enjoy a snow cone on a hot summer day.

Buddy Ball at the Altavista Area Y is more than a game—it's a celebration of inclusion, friendship, and fun! Every athlete gets the chance to play, learn new skills, and shine, with the support of dedicated buddies and volunteers. Programs like Buddy Ball are designed to ensure everyone can participate regardless of ability, building confidence, teamwork, and lasting memories.
Watching smiles, high-fives, and personal victories on the court reminds us what community is all about.
Ages 8 and up.
This is a FREE community program, thanks to the generosity of Bennett's Mechanical.

Busy start to the summer for the aquatics department at the Altavista Area YMCA.
The summer swim team competed in their first meet, placing second overall.
The Mini Dolphins are busy learning the skills needed to be a future Y Dolphin.
Last weekend a lifeguard certification class was held for anyone interested in guarding at the Y or other locations.
We are here for the community.
