A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Deadlifting Workshop!
The session was a success, providing participants with valuable instruction on proper deadlifting form, safe ex*****on techniques, and alternative movements to accommodate different fitness levels and abilities.
A special thank you to Zachary Melling, DPT from Rehab Associates for sharing his expertise and helping attendees better understand how to lift safely, prevent injuries, and maximize results.
At the YMCA, we’re committed to helping our members with education and expert-led programming.

Opening Day for Buddy Ball was this morning and it did not disappoint!

We had several participants and their buddy participate in our first practice of the season and it was a huge success!

Buddy Ball is a program for those who are neurodivergent and may need assistance on the field.

We have around 20 participants signed up and would love to have more if you are interested! There is no cost. Our next practice will be Monday June 22nd from 6-8 pm at the Altavista Area YMCA softball fields!

The Altavista Area YMCA Bus Trip to Chincoteague and Assateague brought 52 members and community together for a memorable coastal getaway.

One of the highlights of the trip was a guided boat tour where guests spotted the famous wild Chincoteague ponies grazing along the marshes. Afterwards, a knowledgeable guide boarded our bus that shared the rich history of the islands, including the iconic lighthouse, local wildlife, and the beloved Misty of Chincoteague story.

We visited the Virginia Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, where we learned about historic aircraft from World War I and World War II that was meaningful and educational!

Before leaving for home, three of our newcomers brought smiles to everyone with a fun rendition of a Sonny and Cher song
We came home with lots of great memories and new friendships made.
