Where is Prime headed to finish up this summer?
Over this past week, and next week, Prime swimmers will be traveling all over the country to compete in some of the biggest meets in the nation! If you've ever wondered what these meets are and how swimmers qualify for them, here's a quick guide.
Last weekend we had 30 swimmers compete in Huntsville, Alabama for Southeasterns Championships! Next week Coach Cam and Caroline Burroughs will be headed to Greensboro, NC for Tyr Futures! Coach C and Aliza Gardner will be headed to Orlando, FL for the Southern Zones Championship!

USA Swimming, the governing body for competitive swimming in the United States, divides the country into 59 Local Swimming Committees (LSCs). Each LSC belongs to one of four zones: Eastern, Central, Southern, or Western.
Prime - in Southeastern Swimming LSC - is part of the Southern Zone.
SES Championships(Southeasterns)
There are both long course and short course time standards as well as LC and SC Championships. Swimmers compete at local usa swiming sanctioned meets to achieve the time standards. Time standards(cuts) are by age group 10U, 11-12, 13-14, 15-over. Southeasterns is held in Huntsville, Alabama.

The Southern Zone Championships (commonly called Zones) are the championship meet for swimmers ages 14 & under and are typically held in early August.
Each LSC has its own qualifying criteria. In Southeastern Swimming, swimmers are selected utilizing power points scored at the SES championship meet. 12 Boy and 12 girls from the 11-12yr and 13-14yr old age groups are selected.
This Year Zones is taking place in Orlando, FL.
At Zones, swimmers compete as Southeastern Swimming, not for their individual clubs, and race against swimmers in their own age group.
Short Course Sectionals
Held after our short course SES Champs meet. Time standards are harder than SES Champs cuts and we compete against swimmers from all around the country. This meet is open to swimmers of all ages as long as the qualifying times are met. We compete as Prime.

The TYR Futures Championships are national-level meets that serve as the next step between Sectionals and Junior Nationals (18 & under) or the National Championships (any age). There are no age divisions at Futures; qualification is based solely on time standards.
