The Lady Tornadoes have displayed remarkable versatility in this year's postseason run. Click over to https://blountpressrow.com and see "The Everything Store" for a recap of the dismantling of Watertown in Saturday's sectional championship.

Hit and run, homers, ace pitching, they pretty much did it all.

Update: The Alcoa/Watertown sectional championship softball game this afternoon at Dawn Marsh Field is at 3 p.m. instead of announced 1.

The Alcoa Lady Tornado softball team unleashed the full arsenal in a Region 3AAA championship game win over Soddy-Daisy earlier this week. Third baseman Grayson Burgess run ruled the Lady Trojans with a three-run shot in the Alcoa fifth.

You can check it out by clicking over to https://blountpressrow.com and having a look at "The Karate Kid."

The win moves the Lady Tornadoes into Saturday's sectional round, where they'll host Watertown at Dawn Marsh Field at 3 p.m. If you're up for a doubleheader, the Maryville Lady Rebels, the Region 1AAAA champions, host Knox West at John Sevier in a AAAA sectional at 7:30.

Both have some work to do to set up a fourth meeting, but the third Alcoa/Heritage softball clash this season was a real doozy.

The Lady Tornadoes battled back from a late two-run deficit to win the district tournament championship game, 6-5, at Alcoa last week. Both teams return to action with region play this evening.

For a look back at the district thriller, click over to https://blountpressrow.com and see "Championship Stuff."

The Alcoa boys basketball team captured its third state championship in four seasons last month in Murfreesboro. Of the three, the most recent was without question the most difficult.

Tornado coach Ryan Collins and seniors Jacolby Cooper, Jack Tarwater, Kamden Lanxter and Jaylen Penson stopped by a meeting of the Alcoa Kiwanis Club last week to talk about just how difficult it had been. Click over to https://blountpressrow.com and see "The Biology Teacher" for the retelling of a remarkable journey.

Back in the day, if you were running some pickup basketball at Springbrook, Hall Road or Sandy Springs, and you dropped a move like that on someone -- and got the bucket -- only one name fit from that moment on.

Jibriel Koko actually dropped the legendary double crossover in the sectional championship game two weeks back. Saturday, with the way Alcoa roared back in the fourth quarter to claim its third state championship in four seasons, and, with Koko being a senior, we decided to make it official.

The more we watched it, the more the same thought came roaring back: Wow!

The Alcoa boys basketball team punched its ticket to The BlueCross Basketball Championships this week in Murfreesboro with a rousing sectional championship win over Cumberland Gap. Highlights were jumping out all over the place as we went through the footage, but one outshone them all: "JaColby Cooper and The Pass That Broke Basketball."

With teams making up games all over the place due to the brutal weather the last two weeks, we decided to go ahead and break down the footage from the Maryville/William Blount clash on Friday, even though the Rebels are back in action at Sevier County tonight.

The Governors opened fast on the Rebels, but a big dose of "Eli O" in the third handed Maryville an advantage it would not relinquish. Click over https://blountpressrow.com and check out the action.

If you're headed over to Alcoa Middle for the district tournament championship games tonight, here are a couple stories to get your motor running.

Click over to https://blountpressrow.com and see "Tiger Lily" for a look at the Alcoa win over Heritage Middle in a girls semifinal. A Lily Pierce third quarter buzzer be**er for the Lady Tornadoes has to be seen to be believed.

In "The Closer," we take a look at a huge night from Tornado big man Akai Williams in a win over Pigeon Forge in a boys semifinal. The high school Tornadoes appear to have something special on the way.

More than half a century after it was built, Alcoa’s Vernon Osborne Gymnasium can still deliver the goods.

Middle schoolers now showcase their skills on Helen Graves Bledsoe Court, named for the first player to ever score a basket in the local hoops cathedral back in the 1950s.

It’s always good to drop by from time to time and see what’s on the way. Blount Press Row caught an Eagleton Middle/Alcoa Middle clash there recently, and the Royals and Tornadoes, respectfully, put on a show. Visit https://blountpressrow.com and see "Full Gas" for a look at how it went.
