Some thoughts here on the state of high school football in Wyoming. Moving a team up or down in classification isn't as cut and dry as it may seem. Could Star Valley be competitive in the 4A class? Right now, absolutely. Would the program embrace the opportunity if asked to move up to 4A? Again, as of it's current status right now, I believe they would. However, every action has a consequence and simply moving Star Valley to 4A in football isn't as easy a solution as it may seem. Or at least, that's just my opinion.

While Proposition 1 received majority support in Lincoln County, the measure, which would have applied a 50% residential property tax cut to full time residents, failed statewide in the General Election. In southern Lincoln County, the mill levy requests for both South Lincoln Hospital District and the Kemmerer Senior Center District passed.

Governor (Updated at 10:55 p.m.) 17 counties have reported with Eric Barlow leading with 93,708 votes followed by Rebecca Bextel with 23,310 and Kenneth Casner with 19,664. In Lincoln County Barlow lead with 5,226 votes followed by Bextel with 1,298 and Casner with 807.

Proposition 1 (Updated at 10:50 p.m.) Proposition 1 - A total of 17 counties have now reported, with 58,632 voting for and 76,442 against. Lincoln County did not followed the rest of the state in regards to Prop 1, with 4,268 votes in favor and 2,987 opposed.

For those commuting through Star Valley this morning, be advised that the bridges in the narrows are very slick. An accident occurred at roughly 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28 near Willow Creek Road at roughly mile marker 95. Fog and slick conditions in spots are present in various places along Highway 89, especially in the narrows.

THAYNE ATM BURGLER SENTENCED: The third and final sentencing has taken place in relation to an ATM burglary that occurred at the Bank of Star Valley Thayne Branch in February of 2025. Miles Lamar Smith of Houston, Texas was sentenced October 13 in Lincoln County District Court to a total of five to eight years in prison for Felony Conspiracy to Commit Theft. In addition he was ordered to pay $12,105 in restitution to the Bank of Star Valley and $753 to Suloff's Towing.

The prison sentence matches those previously given to Billy Chavis and Demarcus Thomas, both from Texas, in December 2025. Smith's charges were postponed in Lincoln County because he was held in Dawson County, Montana where he faced felony charges of Fleeing From or Eluding a Peace Officer and Criminal Endangerment.

The Thayne ATM incident took place on February 2, 2025 when the three men reportedly stole cash from the Bank of Star Valley's Thayne ATM using a stolen Ford F-250 pickup, taken from a residence in Afton, connecting the truck to the ATM with tow hooks and a chain. A second Ford F-250 was also stolen from a Thayne residence that same morning, which was later found stuck in the snow at a church a short distance from the bank.

The investigation was aided by an officer from the Montpelier, Idaho Police Department who contacted local investigators after the MPD responded to a suspicious person believed to be related to the ATM burglary.

Alright drivers, the Alpine roundabout has been gone for about a week now, and Wednesday, October 21 is the last day to submit your thoughts to the town with their survey. Would a permanent and full-sized roundabout at the intersection of Highway 89 and Greys River Road be good or bad?
