Taprobane CC A kick off QCA Cup 2026 with a thrilling win! 🔥🏏

Taprobane CC A started their 2026 campaign with a victory against Qalandars CC.

After winning the toss, Taprobane A elected to field first. Malshan Rodrigo struck early to put pressure on the opposition, but a solid 83-run partnership between Abdurahman Rehmatshah (46 off 43) and Syed Saad (41 off 33) steadied Qalandars.

However, Taprobane’s bowlers pulled things back brilliantly with disciplined lines and tight spells. Malshan led the attack with 3 wickets, while Ryan Arendtsz delivered an economical spell conceding just 16 runs. Nova Britto and Dilshan Thabrew chipped in with a wicket each, restricting Qalandars to 159/7 in 20 overs.

In reply, Taprobane had an early setback, losing Marlon for a duck. Ryan looked in good touch but fell to a sharp catch at mid-on.

The innings was then steadied by Harshana Jayantha (20) and Thilina Prasanna, before Harshana departed. Thilina played a brilliant match-winning knock, scoring 60 off 36 balls, well supported by captain Gayan Perera (24). Their crucial 63-run partnership guided the team home.

Qalandars fought hard with the ball, with Asghar Khan picking up 3 wickets and Ali Magsi claiming 2 wickets.

🏏 Season Wrap-Up | Taprobane A 🏏

The QCA T20 Domestic League, organized by the Qatar Cricket Association, featuring 51 teams, has come to an end. Competing in the Top Division, Taprobane A finished the season in an impressive 3rd place — a great achievement for the team! 🥉

This season was full of positives. The boys truly enjoyed playing together, showing great passion, heart, and strong commitment throughout the tournament. The team spirit and enjoyment were clearly visible both on and off the field and played a big role in our success.

While we celebrate this achievement, we also recognize areas for improvement. We will work on our mistakes, continue learning, and grow stronger in the upcoming season.

In Match 6 of the QCA T20 League 2025, Taprobane A delivered a dominant all-round performance to secure an 86-run victory over Chargers CC. After winning the toss and opting to bat, Taprobane A faced an early setback with the loss of their first wicket in the opening over. However, Marlon (42 off 33 balls) and Chanaka Perera (22 off 16 balls) rebuilt the innings with a solid 51-run partnership for the second wicket. Chanaka Perera added 22 off 16 balls, and Marlon then formed another important 30-run stand with Harshana Jayantha (46* off 41 balls).

In the latter stages, Dasun Isurinda played a match-winning knock, finishing unbeaten on 49 off 29 balls, and his partnership with Harshana Jayantha (88 runs unbroken) helped Taprobane A post a challenging total of 174/3 in 20 overs.

In reply, Chargers CC were immediately under pressure from Chanaka Perera (3/33) and Malshan Rodrigo (1/13), who bowled tight lines at the start, with Sujeewan (1/11) keeping up the pressure from the other end. The spinners then took charge, with Dilshan Thabrew leading the way, taking 3 wickets in his first over and finishing with 3/14 in 4 overs. Ahamed Subry (1/17) then supported Thabrew from the other end, bowling economically and helping to tighten the noose on the Chargers run chase. Chargers CC were just 88 all out in 16.2 overs, sealing a comfortable 86-run win for Taprobane A.

Man of the Match was awarded to Chanaka Perera for his outstanding all-round performance.

🏏 Match Summary – Qatar Domestic League 2025 (Match 04)

Taprobane CC – A registered another strong win in the Qatar Domestic League 2025, defeating Legends CC by 30 runs!

Batting first, Taprobane CC – A posted a competitive total of 167 in 19.5 overs, with key contributions from Dominic Fernando (39 off 29), Malshan Rodrigo (24 off 15), and Dasun Jayasuriya (22 off 15).

In reply, Legends CC’s chase fell apart early as they lost five wickets inside the powerplay, unable to recover from Taprobane’s fiery bowling attack. Despite late efforts from Anees CM (37 off 29) and Nawaz Khan (26 off 14), Legends CC were bowled out for 137 in 16.1 overs.

The bowlers were outstanding, led by Malshan Rodrigo with a brilliant 4 for 12 in 3 overs, well supported by Dilshan Thabrew (2 for 13) and Dasun Jayasuriya (2 for 22) — a complete team effort that sealed the win.
