Ten years ago ORIGINS JiuJitsu was founded by a group of individuals with an affinity for the martial arts. The group’s aim was to help each other improve their lives through JiuJitsu. Since then, the ORIGINS community has grown to over 500 active members—kids, men, and women ranging from 5 to 50 years old. ers both new and old are welcome to train regardless of affiliations with other JiuJitsu teams. It is the first ever martial arts gym in the country to have dedicated programs for top executives, corporate employees, and professionals, highlighting how beneficial JiuJitsu is to busy men and women especially when managing stress. When it comes to families, children as young as 6 years old can benefit from JiuJitsu-based movements. Young students are able to develop intellectual curiosity, social sensitivity, physical stamina, brain development, social skills, and problem solving skills among others. The team is headed by JJFP, Jiu-Jitsu International Federation, and International Brazilian JiuJitsu Federation recognized Black Belt TJ Sulit. Professor TJ Sulit is a lifelong martial artist with over 33 years of competing and 22 years of coaching under his belt. TJ is also active as an international JiuJitsu referee, being the first Filipino to referee in the JiuJitsu International Federation World Championships. He is also a Level 2 Precision Nutrition Coach. ORIGINS is a reflection of the family and community’s core values where health, friends, learning constantly, helping others, and having fun always come first.

Emma, 9 years old, an ORIGINS member since October 2023.

Naturally gentle and kind, Emma has always had a soft and sweet disposition. Through training, she has learned to become tougher, more focused, and composed under pressure.

At ORIGINS, we’ve had the privilege of watching her grow from a very shy little girl on the mats into someone who now steps into competitions with confidence — embracing every challenge and turning each experience into a valuable lesson. Continue having fun Emma!!!

In JiuJitsu, teens learn to think strategically, protect themselves first, stay calm under pressure, adapt to difficult situations, and work their way out of challenges with composure and confidence.

Today, ORIGINS Nuvali is home to more than 30 teens — many of whom started with us in KIDS classes and naturally progressed into the TEENS program. Over the years, the mats have become more than just a training space. They’ve become a safe space to grow, build confidence, and form genuine friendships.

One of the things we’re most proud of is seeing these teens keep coming back — and even those who’ve been away for a while returning because they miss their friends and teammates at ORIGINS.

Beyond JiuJitsu skills, this is what we truly value: surrounding our teens and pre-teens with good people, healthy influences, and meaningful face-to-face relationships. In a generation shaped by screens, social media, short attention spans, endless extra curricular activities, constant brain stimulations, having a strong and grounded community, and having real connections is priceless. (Thank you dear parents!)

Breaking down the De La Riva guard - one of the most effective open guards in Jiujitsu.

In this class, our kids are learning how to control their partner, off-balance with proper timing, and create angles to set up sweeps and attacks. While it may look technical, these drills help develop coordination, awareness, and smart decision-making on the mat.

Away from screens, away from iPads, away from phones — just fun physical fitness and lots of movement! Classes are designed like games, making it easier for very young kids to understand and grasp the concepts while having fun and making little friends.
