‘Ka mua ka muri’
We walk backwards into the future, carrying with us the legacy of those who have gone before us.

It is with deep sadness that Petone Rugby League Club acknowledges the passing of our much-loved Life Member, Henry Toatoa.

Henry was a tireless and dedicated supporter of rugby league and a valued part of the Petone Rugby League whānau for many years.

His contribution to our club reached across generations — from coaching schoolboy grades, being involved with our league teams, to proudly pulling on the jersey himself and enjoying his time playing Masters.

But Henry’s connection to Petone Rugby League was about so much more than the game. His whānau have been deeply involved with our club for many years, and the love, commitment and passion he gave to rugby league will continue to live on through his children, his whānau, and all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Henry leaves behind a legacy built on aroha, dedication, whanaungatanga and a deep love for rugby league.

His presence, his service and the memories he created will remain a treasured part of the history of Petone Rugby League Club.

To Henry’s children, grandchildren, wider whānau and loved ones, we extend our deepest sympathy and aroha at this incredibly sad time.

Rest peacefully, Henry. Your legacy will live on through the people, the club and the generations you helped shape.
