When the members of Tauranga Morning Badminton get together twice a week, it’s not just about the sport itself, it’s also about the people it brings together. 🏸

From seasoned players to curious first timers, from teenagers to those aged in their 90s, the courts at The University of Waikato Haumaru Sport & Recreation Centre have become a hub for this diverse cross-section of the community to gather together and get active.

This private social badminton club meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30am-12pm, for an equal measure of competition and camaraderie, coming together to connect, socialise, and play the sport they love at Haumaru.

Registrations are now open for our winter social netball and football leagues starting in July. Grab your mates and join at Mercury Baypark (Tue Netball / Wed Football) or Haumaru (Mon & Thurs Netball) to stay active and have fun.

Most participants are adults; however, youth are welcome to participate. All teams have a mix of female and male players and we supply the referees. All you need to do is turn up with your team and play!

Last Saturday we celebrated our first birthday in style 🎉 with the people who've made Haumaru what it is - a thriving hub of community activity, from tiny tots finding their balance across the wobbly bridge to budding athletes testing their agility and strength, and everyone in between just giving it a go - which is exactly what Haumaru and BayActive is about. We’re proud to support Positive Vibes Only 🩷

We’re proud to support Positive Vibes Only this winter as part of a Bay of Plenty collective of sports organisations and partners.

Positive Vibes Only is about creating sport environments where young people can enjoy the game, feel supported and stay involved for longer 💪

The sideline sets the tone, and small, positive behaviours can make a big difference for players, coaches, officials and whānau 🩷

Clubs and supporters will be able to access resources and share key messages.

We’ll also need your help to recognise positive people in our sporting community.
