🥏 HOLE 8 — Clear the Gate! 🌳

The basket is there… but first, you’ve got to get through the trees! 😬🌳🥏

Hole 8 presents a deceptively tricky challenge, with a wall of trees blocking the clean path to the basket. The key is finding the right line to clear the trees cleanly while keeping the disc away from the hazards on the golf greens to the right.

🎯 The plan:
➡️ Find the gap and clear the trees
➡️ Keep the disc well away from the OB greens right
➡️ Get yourself into a position for the birdie attempt
➡️ And whatever you do… DON’T HIT THE TREE! 😂

Maverick and Maree both found out the hard way, catching the trees and leaving themselves with approach shots to clean up.

Kelvin, however… finally got one right! 😎🔥

A perfect hyzer line sailed around the danger, clearing the trees beautifully and finishing with a tombstone in Circle 1 — giving Kelvin a genuine birdie look! 🪦🥏⛓️

Sometimes disc golf is all about finding that perfect window… and when you hit it, it feels SO GOOD! 🙌

The pressure now shifts to the putt. 👀
Can Kelvin convert the birdie opportunity, or will Hagley claim another victim?

HOLE 7 — The Long Haul! 💪🥏

219 metres. 718 feet.

Yep… this is another absolute monster at Hagley! 😳

Maree normally has a slightly shorter tee pad available, but today she decided to step up and join Kelvin & Maverick from the longs. No hiding from the distance on this one!

🥏 219m / 718ft Par 4
🌳 Large trees immediately in front of the tee
💪 Multiple long, accurate drives required
⛳ Golf green OB to avoid
🌳 Trees to the right can punish inaccurate lines
🎯 Precise approach needed to finish

Job #1: Survive the trees in front of the tee pad.

From there, it’s all about launching long, controlled shots into the open fairway and gradually working your way towards the basket.

The fairway gives you room to work, but there are still plenty of ways to get into trouble. Stray towards the golf green and you’re risking OB. Drift right and the trees can grab even the smoothest-looking throw.

And after all that distance?

You still need to nail the approach.

Because on a hole this long, getting yourself into putting range is an achievement—but finishing the job is where the score is made.

💪 Bomb it.
🎯 Keep it accurate.
🌳 Avoid the trouble.
⛓️ Stick the approach.

HOLE 6 — Wind, Trees & One Final Problem 🌬️🌳🥏

Hagley turns the wind up again!

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) face a long, open fairway framed by lines of trees on both sides—a classic Hagley Golf Club hole transformed into a serious disc golf challenge.

🥏 113m / 370ft of distance
🌬️ Strong and unpredictable winds
🌳 Trees framing both sides of the fairway
🚗 Path/road OB to the right
🌳 A guardian tree waiting near the basket

The fairway itself is generous, so keeping your drive in play shouldn’t be the biggest problem.

But get caught in the wrong wind pocket and your disc can suddenly drift towards the path/road on the right, turning a promising drive into trouble.

And then comes the real test…

That final guardian tree. 😬

Navigate the distance, survive the wind and position yourself perfectly—only to have one strategically placed tree potentially block the easiest route to the basket.

Get around it cleanly and you’re setting yourself up for a fantastic birdie or par opportunity.

Miss it?

You could be scrambling again.

At Hagley, sometimes the biggest obstacle isn’t the distance…

It’s the one tree waiting at the end.

HOLE 5 — Big Trees, Big Anhyzer! 🌳🥏

After surviving the monster that was Hole 4, Hole 5 brings us back to a more manageable distance… but don’t mistake that for easy!

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) face a basket sitting elevated in the distance, with some seriously large trees blocking the cleanest route.

↪️ Maverick goes HUGE with the anhyzer
⛳ Golf green OB waiting
🏖️ Beware the OB sand traps!

Maverick decides to attack the trees with a massive anhyzer, looking to shape around the obstacles and give himself a direct run at the basket.

The problem?

Too much ambition! 😬

His drive finds the nearby golf green and lands out of bounds.

Meanwhile, Kelvin & Maree opt for the more controlled approach—straight and low, keeping their drives safely in play before setting themselves up with an approach shot to the elevated basket.

Sometimes you don’t need the spectacular line.

You just need the line that works.

And at Hagley, those golf-course hazards are always waiting to turn a good drive into a scorecard nightmare.

🥏 Keep it controlled.

🎯 Attack the basket when you’ve earned the opportunity.

HOLE 4 — The Monster! 😳🥏

206 metres.

Yep… you read that correctly.

675 FEET.

Hole 4 is an absolute monster of a par 3, and for most players, simply getting a par here is a victory.

Kelvin, Maree & special guest Maverick Robertson (NZDSS) are faced with one of the longest holes of the Hagley Hustle—and there is zero room for inaccurate drives.

🥏 206m / 675ft of disc golf madness
🌳 Trees lining both sides of the fairway
⛳ Follow the shape of the regular golf hole
↪️ Slight fade to the right towards the finish
💪 Distance AND accuracy required

This hole isn’t about trying to overpower the course.

It’s about surviving the distance while staying on the fairway.

The regular golf hole shape gives you the blueprint: work your way down the fairway, manage the trees on both sides, and gradually shape your shots towards that finishing fade to the right.

For players with huge arms and pinpoint accuracy, a par is possible.

For everyone else?

Well… good luck! 😂

A single inaccurate drive can put you behind the trees and make an already enormous hole even more difficult.

This is the kind of hole where you don’t chase the score.

You chase the fairway.

🎯 Stay between the trees.
🥏 Trust your distance.
↪️ Follow the shape.
⛓️ And pray for that par!
