After a bit of a dry spell on the rod, i finally got out to chase a few fish around with the bro Nic Dunn on a river i haven’t i been to much in a long time!

After and early rise, at the spot before sun up, -5 degree, lots of fussy browns, frozen solid reels, cold spring feed river and super fast current i was quickly reminded how much fun this spot is!! 😂 Although the thought enters your mind sometimes, this didn’t stop us!

Once we had thawed out and regained a little bit of feeling back in our limbs and especially our hands we keep at it hitting some other spots, soaking up the patches of sun in between we got job done and got stuck into some good fish, not to mention losing some really good ones as-well, All adds to the fun though!

Such an epic mission and always super chill vibes with the bro Nic. Cant wait for summer to come back around so can get into some more epic missions and epic fish, these are my two best from the day🤘

P.s. i don’t think this bay boy is built for the cold 🥶

First time back at this backcountry spot in over 3 years. Last trip was slow too, but we managed a solid brown trout each, so the place always stuck in my mind. This time we hit it in a completely different season… and straight away things felt different.

Long drive in, fresh backcountry air, magic scenery everywhere — but first spot? Not a single fish in sight. River was low, crystal clear, hardly any flow. One of those “hmm hows this day going to go” moments

So we missioned deeper into the gorge to the last accessible spot on the road… only to find another angler already there. Bit disheartening at first, especially because this was actually new water for me and I’d been fizzing to finally see it.

Still wandered down for a look anyway… and boom. First fish spotted, and not long after I was into a chunky jack rainbow that absolutely made the trip worth it and gave us good hopes for the rest of the day! The new Skeleton Optics decoys worked wonders spotting that fish in the low clear water too 👀

After that we thought the angler must’ve gone up stream, so we poked our nose downstream a bit further. Easy going down… not so easy getting back out, and nothing happened. Then spent the rest of the day grinding through different sections trying to get the bro Sam hooked up.

Only ended up seeing three fish for the whole mission — all proper quality trout — but nothing else really came together, these other fish were playing hard to get! Different time of year, tough conditions, low clear water and pressure already on the river made it a hard day… but honestly, being back out there in that unreal country was enough for us!

Wicked mission. We’ll definitely be back. Maybe after a good fresh 👀🎣🤘
