Congratulations to the Walton Women's Nine Hole Pennants team who have won the Waikato Nine Hole Pennants Finals with a total of 43 points - four points ahead of runners-up Te Awamutu. This is the fourth time Walton have won the Pennants Shield since 2022. Pictured are Catherine Came, Debbie Blackstock, Thelma Baxter, Bev King with Waikato Nine Hole Convenor Denise Hunt.

In the final round robin match of the Handicap Matchplay Pennants competition, Walton faced their local rivals Matamata at Ngaruawahia on a calm autumn day. Both teams sat on the same amount of points at the top of the table and only the winner of the match would progress to the semi finals. The Walton team of Don Sharp, Sam Owen, Luke Campion, Liam McFarlane, Gavin Pitcon and David Troost started the day strong with a 2 1/2 - 1/2 score line after the fourball matches in the morning. The afternoon started well with most of the team getting an early advantage. At the turn 4/6 players were up. Sam Owen won his 3/2 closely followed by Luke Campion with the same score line. Walton then waited for the other matches which had become an arm wrestle to close out. Liam McFarlane claimed another win 2-1 which sealed it Gavin Toot Pitcon claimed a half which made it 6-3 to Walton . The two other Walton boys Don and David both lost on 17 and 18 respectively. Walton now await the naming of the semi final venue where they will face Tokoroa on the 7 June.
