Walton Boxing Club

Walton Boxing Club Boxing Club. A member of the Kirikiriroa Boxing Association, which is affiliated to Boxing New Zealand. Training is 6-8pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Your first session is only $5. Then
$10 per session
$30 per month
$50 for 2 months
$170 per year. Bring a towel and water bottle, and a mouth guard if you have one. For men and women, and boys and girls at least 10 years old. Boxers should be vaccinated against Covid. The flu vaccination is strongly encouraged.

Introducing our 6th NZ Commonwealth Games 2026 boxer!

Alex Mukuka based out of Walton Boxing Club in Matamata!

Alex is competing in the men’s 55kg division, he previously represented New Zealand at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, reaching top 8 and finishing fifth overall in the men’s 57kg division.

A multi time New Zealand champion, he is known for his technical style and rapid development since taking up the sport.

Born in Zambia, Mukuka has progressed through both domestic and international competition, including campaigns at Olympic qualifying events and international tournaments like the World Boxing Cup.

His performances across these events have positioned him as a consistent competitor within New Zealand boxing.

Mukuka brings proven Commonwealth Games experience to the team for Glasgow 2026.
