50 Games for“Sarg”

This weekend we celebrate a significant milestone as Dylan brings up his 50th game for Levin College Old Boys.

Known around the club as “Sarg”, Dylan leads by example both on and off the field. A senior player and valued member of the club’s leadership group, he sets high standards through his work ethic, fitness, and commitment to the team. Whether it’s putting in the hard yards at training, smashing out a CrossFit session, or serving in the Army, Dylan is someone the boys know they can rely on.

When asked about his favourite COB memories, Dylan kept it simple – any win with the boys. The same answer came when asked about his favourite players: it’s all about the teammates beside him.

Brought to the club by Coppa (Simon Middleton), Dylan has become an important part of the COB family. Away from rugby, many may not know that he holds a Bachelor of Science, proving there’s plenty more to Sarg than his tough exterior.

A fan of legendary All Black Jerome Kaino, Dylan has built a reputation of his own through his dedication, leadership, and willingness to put the team first. Dylan is a tough hardworking loose forward who has a massive engine and goes the whole game.

Congratulations on reaching 50 games, Sarg. Thank you for your commitment to the COB aiga, and here’s to many more games in the two tone blue.

 This weekend, Levin College Old Boys celebrates a special milestone as Chris Salu runs out for his 50th premier game in the blue and gold. A senior member of the side and part of the team’s leadership group, Chris has become a valued figure both on and off the field, recently earning representative honours with HK Heartland team as well.
 
Chris’ connection to COB goes right back to his younger days, starting rugby around the age of 7 or 8. Having spent plenty of time around the club through age grade rugby and trainings alongside his brother, staying at COB always felt like home. Since then, he’s grown into an important part of the premier environment. Known for his electric speed and sharp footwork, Chris has built a reputation for beating defenders and creating opportunities whenever he gets the ball in hand.
One of Chris’ favourite club memories was winning his first medal with the Senior Reserves in his debut season a moment that helped spark his love for the club. When asked about his favourite teammates, he kept it simple: “All the brothers on the field.”
 
Away from rugby, Chris enjoys volleyball and band practice, while also claiming the title of “best concrete placer” around. Describing himself as “just a nonchalant guy,” Chris brings a calm presence to the group, but his consistency, work ethic and leadership speak volumes.

Congratulations Chris on reaching 50 games for Levin College Old Boys a milestone earned through commitment, loyalty and pride in the jersey.
The club looks forward to many more games ahead. 🤝

🌺🏉 CULTURAL / PASIFIKA DAY – SATURDAY 20 JUNE 🏉🌺

Join us as we celebrate 40 years of Pasifika connection within our club and honour the many cultures that make our rugby whānau so special.

Come along for a day filled with culture, community, food, dance, singing, and of course, rugby!

Saturday’s action takes place at Levin Domain as we take on Foxton at home:
🏉 Senior Reserves – 1:00pm Kick-Off
🏉 Premiers – 2:45pm Kick-Off

Our junior teams will be playing throughout the morning, so come down early and support our future stars.

Be sure to visit our Netball Ladies, who will be fundraising for their upcoming tournament, and grab a bite from the COB Tuck Shop, serving hot food all day from the clubrooms window.

For dinner, our amazing Paia’aua Aiga will be serving up some delicious island food – you won’t want to miss it!

We invite everyone attending to wear their cultural attire of choice for the after-match celebrations and dinner festivities as we come together to celebrate the diversity and unity of our club.

We can’t wait to see you all there!

Weekend wrap.

Seniors Reserves where back at home over the weekend up against Shannon.

Was a tough and difficult game for our boys, and we’re well beaten by a very good Hanana side.
