A huge congratulations to Leighton Ralph and Connor P**i for their selections into the New Zealand Heartland XV. The lads go into camp next Wednesday where they'll prepare for two games against Manuma Samoa down in Timaru. Their first game will be on Sunday the 1st of November, with their second and final game on Friday the 6th of November. UPTHENUA 🔴⚪🔵

🏉 HYC U16 BOYS TOURNAMENT 🏉

Following a 3 day battle, our U16 Boy's wrapped up their Hurricanes Youth Council tournament yesterday in Whanganui.

After a tough loss to Wairarapa Bush on day 1, the boys fought back to put up a more clinical performance against Whanganui on day 2, but unfortunately fell short. Day 3, the final day of the tournament, our lads found themselves in the 3rd and 4th playoff for the Heartland division, going back up against day 2 rivals Whanganui. The team were in an 80-minute back-and-forth slog, battling to get the upper hand, but the game eventually ended in a 33-all draw.

A huge congratulations to Azaria Ngobi and Key Tuilepa who were selected in the HYC U16 tournament team after putting in outstanding performances across all 3 days.

The U16 players and management would also like to say a big thank you to their sponsors, A1 Homes and Paraparaumu Doors, for their support over this campaign, helping supply the team with warm up tops!

🏉 WEEKEND WRAP UP 🏉

Our Heartland lads secured themselves a home Lochore Cup semifinal, after getting a well deserved win down in Westport against Buller, and we also had our U16 girls head up to Napier for the Hurricanes Youth Council U16 girls tournament.

After a couple of stellar performances during pool play, our girls would come up against Whanganui in the final where they only narrowly lost to them during their pool play encounter. Unfortunately, Whanganui proved too strong again in the final, but a huge effort from our girls proved why they were deserving finalists, and they should be very proud of their performance. Congratulations to both players and management on such a successful tournament!

We also wish our U16 boys the best of luck as they head up to Whanganui for their Hurricanes Youth Council tournament throughout this week. UPTHENUA 🔴⚪🔵
