Round 1 day 2 of OctoberFast at Manfeild with Manawatu Car Club and GTRNZ.
Race 2 on Sunday morning was our handicap reverse grid race. This was our chance to get a decent result with consistent lap times and hopefully no safety cars.
It was a drag race to the first turn against Stephen Hamilton in his carina. With me getting more comfortable with the brakes I was later in and stuck the corner. From there it was a little lonely but concentrated on good laps. Caught a couple of cars in front me and a last lap battle with Glen which I just lost out on we came home third on track but ended up second due to the winner breaking out of their handicap time bracket. I was very happy with this race as my consistency was what held our place.
Race 3 on Sunday afternoon was another good start against other cars, again making plenty of positions at turn 1. Horsepower again was my enemy though with straight line speed allowing others to make their way back past. No off track excursions this time though, ultimately ending P7.
Overall happy with the weekend. Learned so much with set up. Massive thanks to Aiden Gregory crew chief, Jo Gregory for driver mentoring and Ferg for the brake advice.
Only a few short weeks until round 2 at Taupo.
