Gisborne Bowling Club completed the Senior and Junior Mixed Pairs over the weekend.
The finals were played on Sunday :
Juniors, Les Bracewell and Joy MacFarlane went down to the husband and wife pairing of Ron & Hiria Nepe. Ron & Hiria have returned from their overseas jaunt and are both playing exceptional bowls.
The seniors saw another husband and wife pairing of Tim & Ginny Sherriff, drop one life this morning against the runners up John Donnelly and Delores Woodcock. They then came back with total determination and took out the final 18-6.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and thank you to Carol Hawes for running the event. Also a huge thank you to Tim, Andrew, Hona and Chris for preparing the greens.

It was fantastic to be back on our Greens today. A large number of members plus a number of new members enjoyed the afternoon …. Roll on Thursday !

Winning Teams on Opening Day ….

A fantastic start to the club’s 2026 / 27 season. 42 players competed in the Opening Day Tournament, playing 3 games of 6 ends. Each team could nominate a ‘Power Play’ in each set and these certainly made the difference in many cases.

We now look forward to the busy season of competition bowls and we are also VERY excited to offer Saturday afternoon bowls starting on Saturday 20th September 1-4 pm. This open to anyone wanting to play bowls, learn to play, or just participate in an organised roll up …. No charge.

Gisborne Bowling Club is celebrating the 2026 / 27 Opening on Saturday. Thanks to all those who have entered, let’s hope the weather plays its part !

It was a perfect afternoon for everyone to get out on the green. This is our last week at Beetham as we move back to our club next week. A huge thank you to Beetham’s management for allowing us to use their wonderful green!
