Our teams had an awesome time at the Clash of the Coast games today representing Tairāwhiti and the NPRL!

It was so cool to see our players out there giving it their all and showing what our community is all about.

Proud of everyone involved! Some good prep before we all head away to the ANZMRL Tamariki Tournament in a couple of weeks 🔥

Nothing beats giving our tamariki these opportunities 🙌🏽

There will be a team on-site that can check your enrolment, update your details, or help you to get enrolled. They can answer any questions you or your whānau may have as well.

📣 GRASSROOTS RUGBY LEAGUE WHĀNAU & SPECTATORS — PARKING REMINDER 🏉

Kia ora koutou,

As our Grassroots Rugby League season continues, we’ve been asked by Gisborne District Council to remind all our whānau and spectators to please be mindful of where and how you park when coming along to Barry Park on Sundays ❤️

GDC oversees the parks, reserves, playgrounds and sports fields across our district, and they have received concerns from some of the local residents around Barry Park regarding parking.

🚗 Please make sure when parking that you:

* Park legally and safely.
* Don’t block driveways, entrances or accessways.
* Don’t park in a way that restricts traffic or access for local residents.
* Be considerate of the surrounding whānau and community.
* Allow emergency and service vehicles to get through if needed.
* If you're trying to think skinny whilst parking, please don't. It more then likely means your vehicle can't fit!

We don’t want anyone to arrive at the park to support their tamariki and end up having their vehicle towed or having to pay to get it back 🙏

So let’s do our part and make sure we’re being respectful of the park, our neighbours and the wider community while we’re there supporting our tamariki ❤️

Our Tairāwhiti Rugby League Representative teams are locking horns with Ngati Porou Rugby League in an epic coastal showdown next weekend as they prepare for the upcoming ANZMRL Tamariki tournament at the end of September 🔥

A huge shoutout and congratulations to the following talented players that have been selected to represent Tairāwhiti District Rugby League 🫵🏽🙌🏽🔥

➡️Coastline/Hawkes Bay/East Coast Tournament - Saturday 12th September

➡️ANZMRL Tamariki Tournament - 25th - 27th September

Please note that these wider training squads have been selected to prepare for the upcoming campaign. The final teams traveling to each specific tournament (Coastline/East Coast and ANZMRL) will be selected directly from these squads based on player eligibility, training attendance, development, and commitment.

📧 To all parents and caregivers: Please keep a close eye on your messenger and email inboxes over the coming days. Important pānui detailing specific tournament selections, training schedules, and team logistics will be sent out very soon.

2026 TAIRĀWHITI REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

A huge congratulations to the following amazing tamariki who have been nominated by club coaches and supporting members following our player selection criteria to trial for our 2026 Tairāwhiti Representative Rugby League Teams.

Where: Barry Park
When: Saturday, 8th August

Trial Times:
U11s: 10:30 am
U12s: 12:00 pm
U10s: 1:30 pm

Please ensure tamariki arrive 10 minutes early and are ready to go with their boots and mouthguards (they will not be able to trial without these).

We have attached a player selection process for tamariki and whānau to read.

If your child is unable to make it, please reach out to the following team managers:

U11 - Rowe Marshall
U12 - Jess Rutene & Samantha Taitoko

WHAT A DAY!

Our Gisborne Grassroots Rugby League Season Opening Tournament was a massive success!

This is only our 3rd year but we are blown away by the incredible numbers that made today our biggest opening yet:
• 11 clubs
• 50 teams
• 650+ participants
• 5-person sub-committee (The small but mighty team that made this all possible!)

THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY
• To our Whānau: Thank you for giving your kids the opportunity to play. Shout out to all the "Whānau Uber Drivers" getting everyone to training and games!
• To our Coaches & Managers: Thank you for donating your time and ensuring our kids have strong leaders to guide them.
• To all supporters: Your positive energy on the sidelines makes all the difference for our tamariki!
