Flowers now at the Club thanks to Yana Pretty Things
Not only does it brighten up the clubrooms, it’s also great opportunity to collaborate with another local business and bring a little service to our community 🌸
Hi everyone 🌸
I thought it was time to introduce myself.
My name is Yana, and I'm originally from Kazakhstan. When I first moved to New Zealand, I never imagined that flowers would become such a big part of my life.
Flowers have always made me happy. What started as a love for their beauty slowly grew into a passion, and then into my work. Since 2018, I've been lucky enough to work with flowers in different ways — from working in rose-growing greenhouses and as a florist, to creating my own bouquets and arrangements.
One thing many people don't know about me is that I also try to grow flowers myself. We have a small garden near the sea, which sounds lovely until the wind arrives and the salty air decides to challenge everything I'm growing! Some plants thrive, some don't, and every season teaches me something new. But I keep planting because I can't imagine life without flowers around me.
I've also had the opportunity to attend and run a few flower workshops over the years, and I absolutely loved the experience. There is something special about spending time with people, being creative, and working with beautiful flowers. It's something I hope to do more of in the future.
One of the special things we did was create a flower cart. It was something I had always dreamed of, and it came to life during one of the most difficult periods in my life. In a strange way, flowers became both my work and my support through it all.
