What a day it was yesterday at Pupuke Golf Club for 18 holes in our Nomads Junior Open Series!

47 juniors took on the course in classic golfing conditions - on and off showers, bursts of sunshine, and plenty of wind to keep things interesting!

A huge thank you to Pupuke Golf Club for hosting us and making everyone feel welcome. Thanks to all the players and parents for the great energy and support - and extra appreciation for spending Mother’s Day with us!

While everyone heads back to the class rooms, its a good time for Futures Auckland-Tāmaki Makaurau to reflect on the school holidays. With a mix of learning, competition, resilience, and unpredictable weather, these days tested all of our participants.

We kicked things off with a Learn & Play at Akarana where participants made the most of a solid 90 minutes of coaching. Players were fully engaged and gained valuable skills despite the conditions. Unfortunately, the Ambrose team play portion couldn’t go ahead, with rain forcing an early finish.

The first of our Junior Opens at Maungakiekie was also impacted, with the event shortened to 9 holes. Even so, the players showed great attitude and adaptability, making the most of their time on the course.

Omaha provided a highlight of the week. Despite a couple of passing showers, the event ran smoothly and players enjoyed a fantastic day of golf in great spirits.

With persistent rain and a few thunderstorms, our last event for the holidays at Howick was ultimately abandoned. Players tried hard in testing conditions but it just wasn’t meant to be.

While the weather didn’t always cooperate, the enthusiasm and commitment from our young golfers remained high throughout. It was great to see players continuing to learn, compete, and support each other across all events.

A huge thank you to our host clubs for their support and flexibility throughout the week, and to the players for their enthusiasm and positive attitude no matter the conditions. We also extend our appreciation to parents and caregivers for their patience and support, helping make the programme possible despite the challenging weather!

A big thank you to Āwhitu Golf Club for hosting such a fantastic Futures Auckland event! 👏⛳️

It’s awesome to see support for junior golf continuing to grow and spread across our region. Seeing young players out on the course, building their skills and confidence in such a supportive environment, is truly inspiring as they develop a love for the game.

Events like these play a huge role in shaping the future of golf — and the enthusiasm from everyone involved is unmatched!

Thanks again to the team at Āwhitu, the volunteers, and of course the parents and players who made the trip out!

Futures Junior Opens – Maungakiekie, Omaha Beach, Howick
- As dedicated pathway events for young players under a 24 handicap, Futures Junior Opens are 18 hole tournaments designed for juniors who are seeking consistent and meaningful competition to support their ongoing development.
Whether you're new to the game or chasing your next challenge, it’s all happening. Get your entries in and bring your mates. There is a lot of golf to play and something for everyone!

🌟 FUTURES ELLERSLIE WHĀNAU DAY & FUTURES 5 REMUERA – WHAT AN EPIC TWO WEEKS! 🌟
What a fantastic stretch of golf for our Futures crew!

First up, Futures Ellerslie Whānau Day brought all the vibes — an awesome turnout, plenty of smiles, and endless energy out on the course. From first ever swings to some very good golf, our juniors showed up with curiosity, courage, and laughter. Days like this remind us why growing the game together is so special, and why we love seeing our juniors love their game. 🏌️‍♂️
A huge thank you to all the players, parents and caregivers for making the day run smoothly and creating memories for our juniors.

We also cannot forget the team at Golf Warehouse! A huge thank you for having us out for an awesome morning!

Then the very next week… players levelled up!

⛳ Futures 5 Remuera saw our juniors take on tournament conditions, right behind the Auckland Strokeplay tournament field — and they absolutely smashed it! 🙌🔥
It was inspiring watching them take control of their own game and find their own love for it, all the while, showing great focus, awesome etiquette, and experience what championship golf feels like. These moments build confidence, grow resilience, and deepen their passion for golf.

What an incredible day at the Family Golf Festival!

Hosted by Flow Golf and Helensville Golf Club, a huge thank you to all staff, volunteers, and Dominic Sainsbury for putting on an awesome event!

We’re also grateful to Auckland Golf, North Golf, Golf HQ, and Panasonic for their support and putting up some amazing prizes! Your encouragement makes a big difference for our future golfers.

To everyone who showed up and showed out in 2025 – THANK YOU! Your participation means a lot and it’s awesome to be a part of the clubs and facilities that are backing the next generation of golfers. We hope you had a blast and are as excited as we are for Futures 2026! Keep your eyes out for our 2026 schedule in the next few days!
