BAN THE BOOM 💥🚫
With fireworks going on sale from Monday 2 November, we're reminding everyone to consider the impact fireworks can have on horses and other animals, and encouraging everyone to say NO to private fireworks and choose an organised public display instead ❤️
As we all know, horses are naturally flight animals, and sudden loud bangs and bright flashes can cause extreme fear and panic, leading them to bolt, break through fencing or seriously injure themselves. Unlike organised public displays, private fireworks are often unpredictable, leaving horse owners and animal carers little opportunity to prepare.
Preparation now can make all the difference!
🐴 Talk to your neighbours about any planned fireworks
🐴 Check fencing, gates and paddocks for potential hazards
🐴 Consider whether your horse is safest in a familiar paddock or stable
🐴 Keep horses with familiar companions where possible
🐴 Ensure identification and contact details are up to date
🐴 Speak with your vet if your horse is particularly anxious
