This is my story and how Shadalom Global Concepts Began.
What is your story?
Hello, my name is Shalom Oladele Oluwaremi, and I am the CEO and Group Managing Director of Shadalom Global Concept Limited in Nigeria.
My journey into entrepreneurship started unexpectedly in 2014. At the time, my university was shut down because of the Boko Haram insurgency, so I travelled to Kwara State for a programme. After the programme, I visited my aunt. She asked what I was doing, and I told her I sometimes helped my mother sell Kampala materials sent from the South.
She encouraged me to learn a skill and asked me to spend an extra day learning how soap was produced. I was reluctant at first, but I went. Surprisingly, I became very interested. I returned again to learn more, got some raw materials, and produced my first products when I returned home.
Then I discovered a major problem. I could not find the quality of raw materials I needed around me. I had to source them from far away, which cost me more time and money. I eventually bought materials in bulk, but before they arrived, my university resumed. I had to return to school and struggled to combine production, marketing and my studies.
I decided to sell the materials instead. To sell them faster, I organised training and taught people how to produce. Something interesting happened: the people who used my materials kept praising their quality because they were better than what they could easily find around them. They started referring other people to me, and that was how Shadalom began to grow.
Today, Shadalom supplies cosmetic raw materials, packaging materials and equipment, and provides practical entrepreneurship training. We have trained more than 1,000 people and have grown into a multi-outlet business.
The problem we are solving is access. Many aspiring entrepreneurs have the passion to start, but they struggle to access quality raw materials, packaging, equipment and practical knowledge. We bring these resources together and help people turn skills into businesses.
Our business sustains itself through sales of raw materials, packaging, equipment and other products, as well as training ser
