Congratulations to Ivo Chiarino on becoming a GUE Fundamentals Instructor Trainer!

Over the course of an intense and rewarding week, instructors, trainers, and candidates came together to explore not only how we teach diving but also how people learn. Through challenging discussions, practical application, and plenty of reflection, the focus remained on developing instructors who can create capable, independent, and thoughtful divers.

Becoming an Instructor Trainer is about far more than passing knowledge forward. It is about mentoring future instructors, fostering growth, encouraging critical thinking, and helping others reach their full potential as educators and explorers.

We're proud to see Ivo take this next step and continue contributing to the development of the GUE community worldwide.

A huge thank you to Dorota, Gemma, Base1 Sardinia, and everyone involved in making the week possible and to the incredible team at Sardinia for providing the perfect environment for learning, collaboration, and growth.

Congratulations to Fran and Ling on completing GUE Tech 1 with Ivo last week!

A week filled with thoughtful discussions, challenging scenarios, and a great mix of cenote and reef diving. It was awesome to see the team grow, refine their skills, and adapt to new situations along the way.

And a friendly reminder that tech diving doesn’t have to be rocket science. 😉

Congratulations to Jessie on completing GUE Technical Fundamentals with Ivo last week!

We spent a few days revisiting the basics and building a solid foundation so new challenges can be approached with greater confidence and control.

Huge congrats to him for smashing his Fathom MK5 crossover from the JJ — officially joining the mCCR crew 🤿💪

We had an absolute blast getting this done, and this is just the start… next stop: leveling up in cave & tec, then straight to Truk Lagoon 2027 🌴🔥

Pray for the wrecks… Marcus is coming.

Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting our friends Kyle and Matthew, aka "Team Permafrost", all the way from Alaska.

Over the course of a demanding and challenging week of GUE Cave 1 training with Ivo, they not only rose to the occasion but also fell in love with the caves... something they’ll surely miss as they head back to the frozen north.

It was great to witness your dedication, teamwork, and curiosity throughout the dives.

We’re certain this isn’t the last time we’ll see you. 😉

Full Cave course wrapped up on sidemount with Derek Hanna and Dan Harwood (aka “the dad”) 🙌

A Canadian from Bangkok and a Brit from Vietnam — and somehow the combo worked perfectly. These two made a solid team from start to finish.

Strong skills, great attitude… and they handled Gio as instructor without too much damage 😄

After some challenging drift dives in the beautiful Akumal reef, Will, Scott, and Spencer, “The Diving Machines," achieved their IANTD Advanced Nitrox certification with Lucas. Off to enjoy those wrecks in the Florida Keys soon enough. 😉

Congratulations to Qilin and Nils, aka "Team Hope" on successfully completing GUE Cave 1 with Ivo!

From reef diving in Dahab with Scuba Seekers to now exploring the caves of Mexico, this team has shown a steady drive to progress. Over the past week, they faced no shortage of challenging scenarios, followed by thoughtful discussions and solid teamwork.

One key takeaway stood out: “hope” and “luck” are not reliable strategies for becoming a competent cave diver 😉 Strong skills, awareness, and discipline always win.

Enjoy the caves over the next few days! Well earned 🙂

Huge congrats to Mike Allport on completing his CCR Normoxic Trimix and Cave CCR on the Fathom Mk3 🙌

Long dives, strong performance, and time spent diving around some incredible cave features — including giant sloth bones and human remains.

Military diver from Canada, calm and dialed in — he even survived having Gio as instructor… which might be the real achievement 😄🍶

Great guy all around. And yes… we finally got a photo.

Last week, Ivo had a bit of fun doing some GUE Basic Fundamentals training with Jeb, Eric, and Ben. It was great to see all your progression despite your level of experience. Great job to everyone for their commitment to become better divers and hard work!
