The Annual General Meeting of the Southern Motor Sports Club was held today, March 22nd 2026, at Sanaya Mansion Hotel, Matara. It was a successful day for our community as we gathered to reflect on the achievements of the 2025/26 term and set our sights on the 2026/27 year ahead.

The proceedings opened with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp and a moment of silence in memory of late SMSC members. Following the presentation of the Secretary’s Report and the Audited Accounts, the membership moved to the election of the Executive Committee for the 2026/27 term.

While the club welcomes a new Treasurer for the upcoming year, we are pleased to announce that our core leadership remains steady, with the President and Secretary continuing in their roles to drive the club forward. The session concluded with productive discussions on future initiatives and the official appointment of the Young Southern Motor Sports Club (YSMSC) office bearers.

Thank you to all members who attended and shared their vision for the club. We are ready to shift gears into another high-octane year! 🏁🏎️

Record-Breaking Performances at Kothmale Speed Hill Climb 2025 (2026) 🏁⛰️

Following a successful weekend of racing last Sunday, March 15th, we are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our club members. It is a privilege to see our executive committee leading by example on the track.

A massive congratulations to our Assistant Treasurer, Rajith Uluwita, who dominated the Group SL-N Ford Laser/Mazda 1500cc class. Rajith set a New Class Record of 59.340 seconds, surpassing his own 2021 benchmark (59.677s) by 0.337 seconds! 🏆⏱️

We also congratulate Vinula de Silva, the Treasurer of our Youth Arm (YSMSC), for securing 1st Runner-Up in the SLE Ford Laser/Mazda 1300cc category. A fantastic performance representing the next generation of our club’s racing talent. 🥈

We are incredibly proud of both Rajith and Vinula for representing the Southern Motor Sports Club - SMSC and the Young Southern Motor Sports Club(YSMSC) with such distinction.

New Class Record! 🏁
Huge congratulations to our very own Assistant Treasurer, Rajith Uluwita, for a stellar performance at the Kotmale Speed Hill Climb!

Rajith improved his previous 2021 class record by 0.337 seconds, clocking in at an impressive 59.340s in the SL-N 1500cc Ford Laser/Mazda 323 category.

Well done, Rajith! Keep pushing the limits. 🏎️💨

Rajith Uluwita challenged his own class record from 2021 in the Group SL-N Ford Laser/Mazda Cars up to 1500cc category. Having previously set the benchmark at 59.677 seconds, Rajith went even quicker this year, improving the record by 0.337 seconds to set a new class record of 59.340 seconds.

SMSC Timing Team at Kothmale Speed Hill Climb 2026. ⏱️

Our team provided the official timing services for the Kothmale Hill Climb held on March 15th, 2026.

In addition to timing, our representatives also stepped in to assist with Starting duties to ensure the smooth flow of the event.

The Kothmale Hill Climb 2026 was organized by the Senkadagala Motorsports Club and Sri Lanka Motor Cycle Club.
