The JMMC is Jamaica's National Automobile Club for Motor Sport & Mobility, a FIA affiliate.

The Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC) is the regulatory body governing motor sport in Jamaica as appointed by the FIA. The JMMC provides sanctioning for multiple genres of motor sport, namely: Sprints, Drag Racing, Esports, Circuit Racing, Rallies, Karting, Dexterity Tests and Drifting. The JMMC also issues competition licenses and adjudicates all issues, disciplinary or otherwise, relating to motor sport locally.

JMMC MOURNS THE PASSING OF GARTH MOODIE

Today is an exceptionally sad day for the Jamaican motorsport community as we mourn the passing of Garth Moodie, a man whose contribution to our sport, particularly in nurturing and developing young talent, has left an immeasurable and lasting legacy.

The son of the legendary Peter Moodie, an icon and pioneer of Jamaican motorsport, Garth proudly followed in his father’s footsteps, carrying forward a family legacy deeply rooted in the history and development of our sport.

However, Garth carved out a legacy of his own, not merely through his involvement in motorsport, but through his unwavering dedication to the next generation of Jamaican drivers. To so many young competitors, Garth was far more than a team member, mentor or supporter. He was a father figure, a source of encouragement, wisdom and guidance, and someone who genuinely believed in their potential.

Many of Jamaica’s young drivers have gone on to achieve remarkable success, both locally and on the international stage, undoubtedly benefiting from Garth’s mentorship, commitment and tireless support. His influence extended far beyond the racetrack, helping to shape not only successful competitors but also the individuals they would become.

His passing represents a tremendous loss to our motorsport family, and the void he leaves behind will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

On behalf of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC), its Executive, members and the wider motorsport fraternity, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, particularly Lisa and Mark, his mother Marie, and his siblings Ishmael, Peter, Irene and Tonia.

Garth, your contribution to Jamaican motorsport will never be forgotten. Your legacy will live on through the many young lives you touched, the careers you helped shape and the generations of drivers you inspired.

Rest in peace, Garth. Thank you for everything you gave to Jamaican motorsport.

As President of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC), I extend my sincere appreciation to the Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica, for taking the time to meet with us and acknowledge the efforts behind Rallying 4 Recovery.

It was an honour to accompany Filippo Marchino (Driver) and Alex Kihurani (Co-driver) as they presented a model of the Jamaica-liveried rally car and one of the Sparco race suits worn during the campaign.

Competing in two rounds of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship, this initiative was about far more than motorsport. It was about using the global platform of rallying to tell Jamaica’s story, highlight the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, support relief efforts, and bring hope and solidarity to our people.

The message on the car — “The World Stands With Jamaica. The World Cares.” — carried that message around the world.

On behalf of the JMMC, a very special and heartfelt thank you to Filippo Marchino, who solely conceived, initiated and personally funded this endeavour on behalf of the Jamaican people. His generosity and commitment to Jamaica are truly commendable.

Motorsport gave us the platform. Jamaica gave us the purpose. And the world helped us deliver the message. 🇯🇲❤️

Congratulations to Alex Powell on an outstanding P3 podium finish in FIA Formula 3 in Madrid! 🏁👏

Alex has made history as the first Jamaican driver to compete at the FIA Formula 3 level, and now the first to stand on an F3 podium.

A remarkable achievement for Alex, his family, his team, and Jamaican motorsport. 🇯🇲

It is with profound sadness that I acknowledge the passing of Kent LaCroix, former President of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club and a respected competitor and longstanding contributor to Jamaican motorsport.

Kent made a significant contribution to the development of our Club and to the sport he so passionately supported. His commitment, experience, and competitive spirit earned him the respect of his fellow competitors and members of the motorsport community.

On a personal note, Kent played an important role during my early years of competition. He was generous with his knowledge, readily offered advice, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His encouragement and guidance were greatly appreciated and remain a meaningful part of my own journey in motorsport.

On behalf of the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club, and personally, I extend sincere condolences to Kent’s family, friends, colleagues, and all those who knew and respected him.

Kent’s contribution to Jamaican motorsport and to the JMMC will be remembered with great respect and appreciation.

May he rest in peace.
