Lo Scoglio a Croce: memoria, tragedia e rinascita
Un simbolo, una croce posta su quello scoglio a memoria delle vite perdute in quello specchio di mare davanti alla splendida Taormina. Un monito per chi naviga su quelle acque, un segno che per anni ha raccontato storie di dolore, coraggio e memoria.
Ma una violenta tempesta aveva strappato la croce dal suo basamento, facendola precipitare e privando lo Scoglio a Croce di Capo Taormina del suo simbolo.
Ed è qui che entra in gioco la passione e il coraggio di un gruppo di ragazzi della scuola sub Divesicily.
Con tanta fatica, determinazione e passione, si sono arrampicati fino alla cima dello scoglio per raggiungere quel punto impervio e riportare la croce al suo posto.
Un’impresa ardua, non priva di rischi, affrontata con grande attenzione e spirito di squadra. Roccia, mare e difficoltà non li hanno fermati: l’obiettivo era uno solo, restituire a quello scoglio il suo simbolo e alla comunità un importante pezzo della propria memoria.
Oggi la croce è di nuovo lì, a dominare il mare.
Non è soltanto una croce: è un ricordo, un monito, una testimonianza.
È il segno di chi non è più tornato dal mare e il simbolo del rispetto che dobbiamo a quelle acque.
Un’impresa nata dalla passione per il mare, dal coraggio e dalla volontà di non lasciare che un pezzo di storia venisse dimenticato.
Un ringraziamento speciale ad Alex e Marta e a tutto il loro straordinario gruppo: Angelo, John, Verity, Sophie e Noelie.
A loro va la nostra più sincera gratitudine per l’impegno, il coraggio e la passione dimostrati. Grazie per aver messo tempo, energie e cuore al servizio di un simbolo che appartiene alla storia di questo mare e di Taormina.

The Cross Rock: A Story of Memory, Tragedy and Renewal 🌊✝️
Standing proudly in the sea before the beautiful shores of Taormina, the Cross Rock carries a powerful symbol: a cross placed there in memory of the lives lost in these waters.
For years, it has stood as a silent reminder to those who sail these seas — a symbol of loss, courage, respect and remembrance.
But a violent storm tore the cross from its foundation, sending it into the sea and leaving Capo Taormina’s Cross Rock without the symbol that had become part of its identity.
That is when passion, courage and determination took over.
A group of young people from the Divesicily diving school took on the challenge of bringing the cross back to where it belonged.
With strength, patience and an incredible amount of determination, they climbed the rugged rock face to reach the difficult and exposed spot where the cross once stood.
It was not an easy task, and it was certainly not without risk. But the sea, the rock and the challenges along the way could not stop them.
Their goal was simple: to restore the cross to the rock and return to the community an important piece of its history and memory.
And today, the cross is there once again — standing above the sea.
It is so much more than a cross.
It is a memory.
A warning.
A tribute.
A testimony.
It represents those who never returned from the sea, and reminds us of the respect we owe to these waters.
This was an undertaking born from a deep love for the sea, courage and the determination to ensure that an important piece of history would never be forgotten.

We are truly grateful for their commitment, courage and passion. Thank you for giving your time, energy and heart to restore a symbol that belongs not only to this sea, but to the history and identity of Taormina.
