29th overall out of 177 participants. 6th in his age group.
That’s the result Andrea Pistis achieved in the latest stage of the Italian Open Water Tour, the spectacular 6 km swim from San Fruttuoso to Camogli.
A race made even more challenging by the rough sea conditions, with large open-water waves demanding not only physical preparation, but also adaptability, technical skills, and mental composure.
But what makes me proudest isn’t the finishing position.
I’ve been coaching Andrea entirely online for the past four years, and I know the work behind this result.
A year ago, a shoulder injury could easily have stopped his progress. Instead, he kept training consistently, adapting the program whenever necessary, never looking for shortcuts and never losing sight of his goal.
That’s why a finishing position tells only part of the story.
The most important part is built through consistent training, especially when things don’t go as planned. Through patience during recovery. Through trusting the process.
Congratulations, Andrea!
This result is another reminder that, in the long run, consistency always wins.
