I just want to say a big thank you to everyone for the words of support. I was very surprised and truly touched by how many people reached out to support us. Thank you all very much for that.
Today Nikita represented Leinster at the All-Ireland Championships, which is a great honour for us. Unfortunately, Nikita lost by a split decision, 3–2. The fight was very close — power boxing versus technical boxing. We were just a little bit short.
Of course, as boxers and as men, we accept the defeat. Without losses there is no growth — it’s part of the game.
I would also like to say a few words about Nikita. He has only been training for two years, and last year his record was 0 wins and 4 losses. But I always told everyone: give me time. His style needs time, and his body needed to be prepared and adapted for power boxing.
This season Nikita won the Wexford County Championship, the Athy Boxing Club competition, the Michael Andrews competition, and the Leinster Championship — 6 wins in a row! Incredible progress in just one year.
Nikita trains six days a week — he truly deserves this. I always say: discipline beats talent, and hard work pays off.
