🦅 What a privilege it was to host the USA Rugby Women's Eagles national team at Holmpatrick yesterday and huge thanks to all those who came out to see them in action. From the pre-training planning to the intensity and physicality on the field, this was a fantastic opportunity to see how an elite level team operates in the build-up to a big test match! 💪

🏉 Despite being put through a grueling live session by head coach, and Skerries Rugby Club's own Jack Hanratty, the players still found the energy to get stuck into some games and stop to chat with those in attendance. It was particularly pleasing to see the number of young and aspiring players representing clubs from surrounding areas, including Balbriggan RFC, Boyne RFC, Navan RFC, and Westmanstown RFC. 🤝

☘️ The team enjoyed a well-deserved rest today before they return to the pitch tomorrow ahead of their opener against IrishRugby at Tallaght Stadium on Sunday, September 20th, tickets for which are available at the link below: ⬇️

📰 A much improved second half performance produced tries for Kevin McGrath, Dara Twomey and Conor O’Reilly - all converted by Jack Litchfield - but it wasn’t enough for the first XV to peg back an impressive Clonmel RFC outfit in yesterday’s senior friendly. 🤝

🧢 A disappointing 47-21 final score line but a valuable outing for a number of emerging players, featuring four first team debutants in Skerries Rugby Club youth team graduates 🎓 Mike Branagan and Conor O’Reilly, and recent arrivals To’e Lokeni and Josh Mallon, and another step up in preparation for the opener against Navan on Sept 26th! 💪

You know the season is back up and running when there’s a feast of youth teams action on the cards! 🤩

💪 It’s a busy programme of activity around this evening (Friday), as first, our U14 boys travel to take on in a 7pm kick-off.

🕢 The U15 boys get their campaign underway in at 7:30pm, the same time as the U18.5 boys take on away.

🏰 The only match of the sequence taking place at Holmpatrick this weekend is the U17 boys’ hosting of Ardee at 7:45pm. ‼️

⏩ Tomorrow then sees the U18 girls of , and rejoin forces, as they make their way to face Navan in a 12 noon kick-off.

The promises to be an exciting time for all of our youths teams and, as ever, all support is most welcome! 🐐

📢 SENIOR FIXTURE DETAILS ‼️

With the revamped fast approaching, this weekend sees the senior squad take its first and only trip 🚌 of the season to Munster to take on Clonmel RFC in a friendly.

🤝 Building towards their respective 2B North and 2B South league campaigns, Skerries and Clonmel will renew acquaintances for the first time since the heady days of 2022/23. 😢

Saturday’s match is down for a 2:30pm 🕝 kick-off in and any traveling supporters will be very much appreciated!! 🐐 🐐

🚨 We’re now just over two weeks out from the start of the new season and that means a return of the popular pre-match lunches! 🍽️

📔Lunches will be held before each of our nine scheduled home games in AIL 2B North, starting with the visit of Navan to Holmpatrick on September 26th and concluding with the hosting of Banbridge on March 27th, next. ⏩

🤝 These events are always a great opportunity to catch up with friends and former teammates, or simply to make a day out of a big match at Holmpatrick and please note that some of these dates will fill out fast! 😳

In the build-up to our on Sept 19th, we are taking the opportunity to introduce the team of volunteers behind all the work going on at Skerries Rugby Club. 👋

🥁 First up is minis coordinator, Sue Heeney.

A long-time supporter, former PRO and reluctant part-time coach, Sue took on the important task of running a busy minis programme - alongside Garrett Early - that sees 200+ players from ages 5 to 12 and a swarm of dedicated coaches and parents take to the pitches every Sunday morning. 🏉

Sue will be among the volunteers on hand at the on September 19th, so if you are interested in finding out more about at Skerries RFC, please don’t hesitate to ask! 🙏🏼

🚨 With all minis and youths teams of Skerries Rugby Club now back up and running, this week also marks the return of our after-school skills sessions! 🏉

Overseen by newly installed Director of Rugby and former Ireland international, Jamie Hagan, this year’s programme will see specialist coach Mark Mulcahy joined by his former Skerries youths teammate and returning senior player, Cian Darling, who has spent the last number of years playing professionally in . 🫡

The sessions are designed to provide opportunities for boys and girls from fourth class to first year to work on specific skills outside of their regular team training schedule, in a fun environment and are open to club MEMBERS and NON-MEMBERS of ALL LEVELS of experience. 🤝

The groups will take to the field this coming Wednesday, September 9th, so don’t miss out! For further details and reservations, contact Mark on 0879195661. 📲

The afterschool sessions are part of a wider rugby development plan currently in motion, so for further exciting enhancements over the course of the season! 👀

As part of the on September 19th, the club will be running a for preloved rugby kit. 👕

If you have any gear that you or your kids have grown out of but is still in decent condition, you can drop it off to the club at the following times: ⏰

- Sundays, 9:30-11am
- Mondays, 6:30-7:30pm
- Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm

All the gear will be sorted and on display on the 19th, with any proceeds raised through this year's initiative used to cover costs for minis blitzes over the course of the season. 🏉

💪 The under-8s (kids born in 2019) under-9s (DOB 2018), under-10s (DOB 2017) and under-11s (DOB 2016) are all back on the pitch this weekend (August 30th), with the under-6 (DOB 2021), under-7s (DOB 2020) and under-12 (DOB 2015) groups kicking off their seasons next Sunday, September 6th! ⏩

👧👦🏾 With the onset of the new season, we are very excited to welcome returning and new players, boys and girls, coaches and supporters, and no prior experience is necessary. So if you or someone you know might be interested in getting involved, we encourage you or them to come on down and ! 🏉
