📢 TEAMSHEETS ARE IN 🚨

📰 The first XV lineup for Skerries Rugby Club’s first ever senior clash with Enniskillen in round 5 of Division 2B North again has a settled look to it, with one change apiece in the forward and back divisions.

💪 Up front, Mike Branagan returns on the openside flank and behind, Joe May is selected at out-half for his first AIL start, following a string of impressive performances for the J1s.

🔀 The latter selection has a knock-on effect in a reshuffled back line for the J1s to take on Blackrock at home on Sunday afternoon, with younger May, Hugo the only player in the same position as their last outing.

🏇 Jeff Sexton takes the reins at 10 for this one, with captain, Conor Nulty and Adrian O’Reilly - fresh from representing Ireland at the ITF Tag Rugby World Cup in Australia - among a number of welcome returnees.

📢 WEEKEND YOUTHS FIXTURES UP!

😳 No this week, so the U18 girls of Ardee, Boyne and Skerries meeting with Dundalk at 12 noon on Saturday is the first match up for discussion.

🏉 On Sunday, the U14 boys are away to Lansdowne in a 10:30am start, and then there’s a double helping of live action at Holmpatrick, with the U15 boys entertaining Dundalk from 12pm and the U13 boys up against Greystones from 12:30pm.

🐐 A disappointing result for the Leinster North East U16s in the yesterday, but great to see the Skerries Rugby Club contingent representing!

🏉 Played out in lovely conditions in Portlaoise, the lads fell to a narrow 22-19 defeat but with Liam Rooney putting in an 80-minute shift in the second row, and Tiernan Butler and Simon Cole introduced to the back line in the second half, they contributed to some cracking rugby and an entertaining battle.

⏩ The trio will be back in training alongside their northeast colleagues on on Monday evening, with the next competitive fixture set for December against Leinster North Midlands.

‼️ U12 GIRLS RUGBY FESTIVAL AT SKERRIES RFC 💥

📢 In huge news for our underage programme, we are delighted to be playing host to the Leinster Rugby U12 girls mini rugby festival on Saturday, November 14th!

💪 This is the first time Skerries Rugby Club will have the honour of staging this event, and we are looking forward to welcoming teams from across the province for what promises to be an epic day of live action. 🏃‍♀️

🏉 This is a fantastic opportunity for the club to showcase and champion girls mini rugby, both within our own community and across the wider region, and we hope to see club members out in force to support our own U12 girls, and the other teams on the field. 🐐

🙏 As is the case with any event of this nature and size, it would not be possible without the time and dedication of our club community, and we will be very grateful to anyone else who might be able to offer some support on the day.

💨 couldn’t dampen the spirits of more than 250 minis and youths players, coaches and parents from who made the journey to Dublin 4 on Saturday evening for the much-anticipated between Leinster and Munster at the Aviva Stadium. 🏟️

🐐 Decked out in Skerries and Leinster kit, the strength in numbers and continued supply of hot chips kept the group warm as they cheered the home side on to a hard-fought URC victory! 💪

🔵 They also got the opportunity to cheer on Alan Higgins and the rest of the U19 interprovincial champion Leinster squad, who took part in a jersey presentation and the half-time parade. We look forward to seeing Alan back in Skerries colours soon. 👀

📰 DOUBLE MATCH WEEK AHEAD ✌️

🚌 The Linesight and Halligan O'Connor Property Consultants-sponsored first XV are northward bound again this week, as they travel to Co Fermanagh to face Enniskillen RFC this coming weekend.

🤝 The Division 2B North round 5 clash will mark the first ever meeting of the two sides at AIL level, with both looking to back to winning ways.

🏠 On Sunday, the J1s host at Holmpatrick in the opening round of the division 2 regular season.

🥇Having topped their group in the preliminary qualifying phase, the team will be keen to pick up where they left off, but this will be an altogether different challenge.

🐐 It will be the usual kick-off times of 2:30pm at Mullaghmeen on Saturday and 3pm at Holmpatrick on Sunday, and all support, as ever, will be much appreciated.

🏉 Skerries Rugby Club’s aim to secure a first victory over Clogher Valley will extend into 2027, after they lost out by 19-24 at Holmpatrick yesterday afternoon.

💨 Playing into the notorious east coast wind in the first half, the home side got off to an impressive start, as Ronan Mulcahy finished off a set scrum inside the 22.

💪 The Tyrone men hit back to equalise a few minutes later but then Mikey Sherlock barreled over in trademark fashion and Jack Litchfield nailed the difficult conversion for 12-5. The Clogher scrum allowed them to play for territory, and they sealed a second unconverted try just before the half-time break.

🌧️ Skerries struggled to build any significant momentum in the second half, and crucially, Clogher Valley struck for tries in the 58th and 73rd minutes to put 12 points between the sides.

🐐 Rob McKey’s impressive finish and Mulcahy’s outrageous conversion from the touchline left it all to play for in the last couple of minutes but Skerries couldn’t create another score.

🍽️ As well as entertaining club president, Gary Millar and fellow guests from , yesterday’s pre-AIL match lunch provided an opportunity to belatedly present the Skerries Rugby Club Sandy Heffernan Club Person of the Year award for 2026, and recognise the significant contributions of one member in particular.

🐐 A Skerries man to the core, Johnny Tyndall is a former player and a well-regarded coach across multiple sports and disciplines, who spent a number of years involved with underage teams within the club.

🏃🏻Recruited to support the strength and conditioning requirements for the senior squad during Chris Keane’s tenure, Johnny subsequently expanded his role to forwards coach and was a major force in the promotion-winning 2022/23 season.

🫡 A mass exodus of players during that close season made the challenge of division 2B an even more daunting one, but Johnny stepped up to the role of head coach and over the last three seasons, helped to bring through a host of youngsters that will hopefully form the core of the Skerries teams for years to come.

🏉 Currently taking a deserved break from coaching, expect it won’t be too long before he’s back on the pitches of Skerries!

🏠 The makes a welcome return tomorrow, with Clogher Valley the visitors to Holmptrick, and there are some changes to the Skerries Rugby Club lineup from the round 3 defeat at Malone.

🔄 Up front, Oisín McNamara rotates again with Kieran Leonard at loosehead, while Cal Marrey marks his first start of the season in place of the injured James Brennan.

🧢 Veteran Dean Moore makes his Skerries debut in the second row at the tender age of 40, while Robbie Gallagher takes his place on the open side flank, having impressed off the bench in Malone.

🪽Rob McKey returns to run-on side on the wing, meaning Jack Litchfield wears his familiar number ten shirt, where he started the opening two victories.

💪 On the bench, Dara Twomey is back after a strong 80-minute shift for the J1s two weeks ago, while Griffin Carrick, Barry Murphy and Dara Lowndes are included in the AIL squad for the first time this season.
