Leicester Celtic FC Leicester Celtic Football Club was founded in 1967 by Michael Flaherty and Father C. F. Lee, then a curate in Rathgar parish.

In return for financial assistance from the Parish, the name of a local street was to be used in the club name.

Fantastic attendance last night as we hosted the DDSL Grassroots Coach Education Session in Leicester Celtic! 👏⚽️

Almost 30 Leicester Celtic coaches were in attendance, along with a further 20 coaches from other local clubs, making it a brilliant evening of learning and development.

A huge thank you to JJ Glynn for delivering a hugely informative session, combining both classroom learning and an excellent on-pitch practical session.

Thanks also to Barry Ferguson and the DDSL. The Coach Education programme within the DDSL continues to go from strength to strength, and we are always delighted to play our part in hosting these sessions. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the next one.

Finally, a special shout-out to our U10.2 team, who put on a fabulous exhibition of football in front of the large crowd in attendance. đź‘Ź

Luke has very strong connections to the club – his two younger brothers play for Leicester, and his dad Collie is a long-time Leicester coach.

Leicester Celtic FC | New Development

We are delighted to have secured the services of Karl Coleman as the Clubs new Goalkeeper Head Coach.

Karl joins us with extensive experience at the highest levels of Irish football. A UEFA Goalkeeper B Licence coach, he spent over a decade with Shamrock Rovers, working throughout their Academy from U10 to U19 before becoming Goalkeeper Coach with the Rovers Senior Women’s Team.

Karl is currently also working with the FAI as a Goalkeeper Coach with the Republic of Ireland underage Boys’ and Girls’ International Teams.

It provides our goalkeepers with an outstanding opportunity to work with and learn from a coach operating at international level, while also providing support and expertise to our coaches throughout the club.

We are delighted to welcome Karl to Leicester Celtic and look forward to the standards, experience and knowledge he will bring to our players and coaches.

Karl took his first session in the club last night as he put some of our keepers through their paces on a rain drenched evening (picture below).

*🏆 EWFL Division 3 – League Champions*

A huge congratulations to Mick O’Brien and all the Leicester Celtic Ladies as they secured the Eastern Women's Football League Division 3 League Title with a brilliant 2–2 draw away to Peamount United FC tonight. A fantastic achievement for a fantastic group.

What makes this success so special is the journey behind it. What began as a Social Fun Kickaround has grown into a committed, competitive Women’s Senior Team, driven by Mick, Sandra and so many others who believed in creating something meaningful for women and girls in the club.

In just two seasons, the Ladies have delivered silverware and progression:
* Promotion from Division 4
* Freya Fitzpatrick Memorial Cup champions 🏆
* And now… EWFL Division 3 League Champions 🏆

*But the impact goes far beyond trophies.*

With our Girls U17/U18 Youth Team now underway, we are only months away from seeing a Leicester Celtic Girls team integrate into the Senior setup for the very first time. That connection — that visible pathway — is what tonight truly represents.

These Ladies have shown our young players what is possible. They’ve created a future that girls in our club can see, feel, and aim for. A real pathway from underage football to senior women’s football, built through their commitment, their spirit, and their success.

Winning titles is brilliant — and they’ve certainly done that — but inspiring the next generation is even better. And tonight, they’ve achieved both.

Well done to everyone involved for driving women’s football forward in Leicester Celtic and giving our girls a future to aspire to. 💙⚽
