St Peters B 0-3 Moate Celtic
We kicked off our final game of the season in the blistering heat away to Saint Peter's FC in a very well presented McCarthy park. The conditions may have been perfect for viewers but players were definetly feeling the heat.
The game was quite open to start with, most chances falling to Moate. Aaron, CJ and Shilo all saw early chances saved or blocked by Peter's defenders. Sean Waters and Callum Jones put in good performaces against a good St Peters midfield to dominate the middle for Moate to dictate the game. It didnt take long for Sheerin to get on the scoresheet though as he played a ball across the box to CJ Isayus only for CJ to line him up for a tap in inside the box.
Not long after Jamie Guinan crossed in a lovely free kick deep into the St Peters box which Sheerin headed down to the oncoming Dwayne Farrell who volleyed it home. Peter's created a few chances in the end of the first half, mostly from set pieces but between Nicky Hamm and Gary Kelly they both made great blocks to take a lot pressure off their team.
The second half started with St Peter's pushing for a way back into the game which at times left huge space for the counter attacks for Moate. Aaron and Shilo Bermeo failed to convert chances to further Moate Celtics lead. On the 60 minute mark, again through a counter attack, Sheerin carried the ball and played it through to winger CJ Isayus who calmly side stepped the defender again and showed great composure to slot his finish passed a very convincing Peters goalkeeper Luke Francis, into the bottom right corner to extend Celtics lead.
Peter's pushed for a late goal and probably could've got one or two if Celtics keeper Gary Kelly wasn't in outstanding form. He proved himself with a huge double save and some excellent commanding of his area throughout.
Celtic made subs near the end which saw Moate Celtic legend Pat Buckley come back into the back 4 for his protege Jamie Guinan. Conor Sheridan made way after a good performance for Sam Wasilewski. Sheerin also came off, to be replaced by a future legend of moate Celtic, Ashby Bermeo.
Hunter's men have had quite a mixed season with some excellent performances and sometimes been let down with numbers. Some new additions this year including Adam Dolan have made serious improvements personally and to the team itself.
Moate Celtic are always looking for new players of all levels who are looking to enjoy playing football in a friendly and competitive environment
