1st XI: A Tough Day at Castlelands
MCU Division 3 | 10 May 2026
It was a tough afternoon for the 1st XI at Castlelands as we failed to capitalise on a solid bowling performance. After County Kerry won the toss and elected to bat, our boys did a fantastic job keeping them within reach. Michael T (2/43), Sarath (2/18), and Jayamohan (2/26) bowled beautifully to restrict them to 180, wrapping up their innings in the 34th over.
Unfortunately, our chase never got out of first gear. Aside from a resilient 37 from Jomy, our batting lineup completely crumbled under pressure from Kerry’s Luqman Kabir, who tore through us with a devastating 5 for 14. We were bundled out for just 90 runs in under 20 overs, a disappointing result at home, leaving us with plenty of lessons to take into the nets.
2nd XI: Outmuscled by Midleton
MCU Division 4 | 9 May 2026
Our 2nd XI put up a spirited fight at home but ultimately fell short against a disciplined Midleton side. After letting Midleton bat first, our bowling attack showed great grit to bowl them out for 182. Jayakrishnan was the pick of our bowlers, turning in excellent figures of 3 for 34, while Milind, Ansar, and Jon chipped in with two wickets apiece to keep the target manageable.
Chasing 183, we just couldn't forge the big partnerships needed to anchor the innings. Guna (20), Atul (19), and Ansar (19) all got starts and showed intent, but Midleton's bowlers kept hitting their marks. We were eventually dismissed for 111 in the 36th over. It wasn't our day, but the fight from the lower order gives us something to build on.
1st XI: The Perfect Response at Carriganore
MCU Division 3 | 16 May 2026
What a way to bounce back! After the disappointment of the previous weekend, the 1st XI traveled to Carriganore and put on a clinical, dominant performance against Waterford & District. Batting first, we built a formidable total of 227 for 9. Vivek laid a brilliant foundation with a gritty 33, setting the stage for a spectacular, aggressive 59 from Aadhvin Veera. To top it off, Sharon provided the perfect late-innings fireworks, blasting an unbeaten 21 off just 9 balls.
Defending 227, our bowlers took regular wickets to derail the chase. Jayamohan (2/23) and Aadhvin (2/16) bowled well through the middle overs, while Sharon capped off a brilliant all-round day with 2 for 45. We bowled them out for 136 in the 28th over to secure an emphatic 91-run victory, a massive statement from the lads!
