O’Carroll’s Sweep.

From this year on, the sweep after Batts Corner will be known as “O’Carroll’s Sweep”

Most of you will know Anthony O’Carroll had a serious accident at the Southern 100 two years ago. Since then he’s been fighting every day, taking small steps forward with the same determination he always showed on the bike.

As a club we’re so proud of Anthony. His strength and attitude are what road racing is all about. Naming this after him felt right, a way to mark his fight and to remind every rider going through it that heart matters as much as speed.

Anthony, this one’s for you. Your name will be carried with the lads every lap.

New lids for the lads thanks to Crossans + 2 Wheels Lottery

A massive thank you to The Visor Shop, Crossans, for their part sponsorship of our travelling marshals’ new helmets.

The road race committee South West Road Races Athea ,kells road races, skerries100, Faugheen RRclub, Walderstown Road Races, WestCork Mcc , Classic Bike Racing Ireland were asked to provide helmets for the travelling marshals as they aren’t funded, so this support came at the perfect time.

From the first call to the last, Adrian couldn’t have been more helpful. To get us 5 helmets in a day, ready to go, was absolutely incredible, above and beyond stuff.

The remainder of the helmets were covered by our 2 Wheels Lottery. That’s exactly what the lottery is for and why we ask people to get involved , essential safety gear and everything our road racing needs to keep moving.

Tomorrow Southern Ireland’s road racing season begins, and it starts with Kells Road Races.

After a little wait, there’s nothing better than seeing the bikes back on the roads, the clubs back doing what they do best, and the whole community coming together again.

From everyone at South West Road Racing Athea, best of luck to Kells Road Races this weekend. Safe racing to every rider, and a massive thank you to every marshal and volunteer.

SWRRA is seeking volunteers interested in becoming race marshals.

If you would like to get involved and play an important role in ensuring our events run safely and successfully, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of our marshal training day, which we expect to take place in August. Further details will be announced as soon as they are confirmed.

We already have a lead team of approximately 10–12 experienced marshals from Mondello, with members of the Spanish Irish Road Racing team, IOM TT, DSM and CSM also joining us. With such a strong and experienced group involved, all new volunteers will be in excellent hands.

Whether you are new to marshalling or have previous experience, your support would be greatly appreciated.

As promised we have a receipt for €1170 in bales sponsorship money transferred from revolut to the bank account.

There was bale money paid directly into the bank account also.
