Una Shea and Emma o Sullivan added 2 each after some great individual play and Saoirse hussey finished the scoring before half time with a nice finish from inside the box.In fairness to Athletic they never gave up and were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet Saoirse added her second in the 2nd half to top off a great performance all round. It was a night of high drama at Inter Kenmare on Wednesday as the Under 10 girls faced the might of Killarney Athletic under the floodlights. The visitors showed their strength early on and threatening to run away with it. It could have been worse but for the resolute defending of Elderoma, Caoimhe and Sophie, who stood firm under pressure. Further forward, Jasmin and captain Dearbhla were full of energy, with Dearbhla having a super shot before the break. The second half saw the three youngest players, Teagan, Cara and Ruth, bring fresh focus and drive to the Inter cause. Zara and Avril kept pressing forward, covering every blade of the plastic grass in their relentless pursuit of a comeback. Their efforts helping Caoimhe target the keeper repetitively. Killarney, however, refused to lie down and edged attacks at goal again in a thrilling contest. Nobody in the huge attendance dared blink as the game turned into a breathless end-to-end battle. Then came a moment of magic as Caoimhe produced an amazing piece of skill to pull the ball back into the danger area. Dearbhla made no mistake, driving a low shot towards the net Inter poured forward in search another shot, but that attacking ambition proved their undoing as Killarney snatched another shot with the last kick of the game. In a wonderfully sporting match full of determination, goals and drama, Dearbhla and Ramona were best for Inter Kenmare.
Thanks to Ryan for reffing, the coaches Catraoina, James and Connor for looking after our girls and Reddan &Sons for sponsoring the team.

Our Inter U14 girls met MEK at Lackabane on Thursday evening. The teams were well matched in skill and determination. Lily had an early shot on target and MEK fought back but the strong defensive line of Sarah, Ava & Orlaith proved hard to pass. Fallon, Abbie & Ally were impressive in midfield providing opportunities for Gabija to move up the pitch with Anna and create some great scoring opportunities. Lily passed the ball across the goal and Laoise Smyth found the back of the net, 1:0 to Inter! Mary came on to cover an injury and made some amazing clearances. Fallon & Gabija had great shots on target, unlucky not to score. The second goal came from Laoise Smyth again! Half time 2:0 to Inter.

The second half was a further display of strong teamwork. Sinéad provided much needed fresh legs in the second half during this fast-paced match. Mila Riney worked tirelessly up front and her hard work was rewarded when she secured Inter’s third goal, 3:0!

Goalkeeper extraordinaire Elizabeth faced off a very strong forward line. She read the play expertly, coming out from goal when needed. It was no mean feat but she managed to keep a clean sheet.

Player of the match was Elizabeth Downing and very well deserved.

Thank you to our opposition MEK for a very exciting match and to our sponsor Dan Murphy’s Bar, Sneem.

Inter Kenmare Under-10 Girls inter V QPR

Player of the Match: Avril

On Friday evening, our Under-10 girls hosted QPR in what proved to be a closely contested and exciting battle.

Dervla started between the posts and was rock-solid from the outset, supported by a strong defensive pairing of Avril and Sophie. In midfield, Anna, Ramona and Zara worked tirelessly, keeping the pressure on QPR throughout. Up front, Caoimhe was a constant thorn in the side of the QPR defence with an early fantastic shot on target.

Dervla then moved outfield, with Anna taking over in goals and proving just as effective between the posts as she is outfield. Dervla was in fine shooting form with constant shots on goal.

Jasmine was a bundle of energy, covering every inch of the pitch and causing havoc for the QPR defence. At the back, Sophie and Avril were on top of every ball, confidently winning possession and driving the ball forward to the hardworking midfield of Ramona, Zara and Jasmine, before linking up with the forward line of Caoimhe and an in-form Ramona.

Elderoma took her turn in goals and proved to be an excellent shot-stopper, while also showing her defensive skills outfield as she kept a close eye on the opposition’s shooters. Harmony brought fresh legs to the team and impressed with some excellent passing and distribution down the field. Sophie also had a stint between the posts, further highlighting the number of talented shot-stoppers emerging in this squad!

Caoimhe threatened constantly in the second half, Ramona showed great awareness and quick thinking on the ball.

With some determined defending and excellent teamwork, the girls saw out the game.

QPR battled hard with a few good shots testing our keepers.

It was an exciting match from start to finish, with some fantastic football played by both sides. Every one of the Inter Kenmare Under-10 girls played their part and should be proud of their performance.

A special mention goes to Avril, our Player of the Match, who delivered an outstanding performance with a tremendous work rate throughout the game. Well done, Avril!

Well done to all the girls on a brilliant team performance and a fantastic result! 💚⚽

U14 Girls - vs Newcastle West

Powerful performance by Inter U14 girls today.

An early goal by Laoisa settled the squad, a lovely volley from Lilly’s cross into the net put us ahead early - 0-1. Great pressure from the midfield, Gabija, Abbie and Fallon, to pump the ball forward again rapidly let to a rapid second score Mila getting on the end, smashing the ball into the back of the net. 0-2.

Newcastle West attempted a comeback but Elizabeth’s rapid reactions halted the effort.

The back line of Sarah (nothing gets past me) cool as ever, Ava (solid as steel)Ally (brute force) and Orlaith (silent but deadly) were switched on 200%, every ball pumped back up field, one leading to a fantastic play from Ally and Abbie up the right wing. Lilly again flicked the ball forward, Fallon overlapped and got a fantastic shot off into the top left corner.

HT: Newcastle West 0-3 Inter

Second half started with NCW attacking repetitively and rewarded with a lovely unstoppable high ball over the keeper’s head. 1-3.

Not to be deterred, Inter attacked again with super play from Sarah and Gabija doing back-breaking work on the left wing. Worked the ball forward with Sinead and Anna pumping great ball forward and again Fallon making no mistake, finding the net. 1-4.

Abbie and Lilly came off injured after a super contribution to the game. Mary brought fresh legs and awakened a fresh attack on NCW. Ava and Ally had a great double act in defense.

Sinead was called in with super defensive skills, turned the possession, ball again pumped forward and Fallon getting her hat-trick. 1-5.

NCW had another few attacks but Ally was superb defensively. Captain Elizabeth pulled off another superb save near the end and Fallon clearing the ball off the line to keep the final score 1-5.

An all-round super team effort with Fallon having a standout performance and gaining Player of the Match today.

Thanks to all NCW for the refreshments after the game, the parents for travelling, Eugene and Sheila for helping on the sideline and our new sponsor Dan Murphy’s Sneem.
