Liam Blackburn Memorial Cup

Jaybazz 2-2 Mayfield Utd (Jaybazz won on pens)

A great day out and a great game between both teams.

Some highlights were:
Jamie O’Leary AKA Barney scoring his first EVER goal in football during our penalty shootout. Super-Sub Ray Costin came very close to scoring a 90th min winner for us and was unlucky not to do so, Mark Sheedy’s match winning penalty save and of course plenty of Liams friends and ex team mates were playing for us on the day and more importantly we raised roughly €700 for Pieta house through the link and what was in the buckets on the day!

We’d like to thank Mayfield Utd Jnr management team for their generous cash donation on the day and similarly to referee Denis Cronin who also donated his match day earnings which we greatly appreciate. We’d also like to thank everyone who donated to such a great cause. And finally we’d like to thank Liams family for allowing us to go ahead with the game each year.

Our first ever win in this cup no doubt Liam was cheering with us throughout!

Liam Blackburn memorial game

Our third annual memorial game for our good friend and no.1 Liam.
We encourage all Liams friends who’d like to play for us on the day to text either Jamie O’Driscoll or Rory Murphy so it can be arranged.
On a similar note any of Liams former teammates who’d like to play in this game are more than welcome!
