Today, as Ciara Mageean is laid to rest, there is an overwhelming sense of sadness across the athletics community. It is difficult to find the words to do justice to the loss of such a special person.

We were fortunate at Clane AC to have had the opportunity to spend time with Ciara, and this photograph brings back such lovely memories.

Along with her extraordinary talent and achievements, Ciara was always so generous with her time, so warm and approachable, and so willing to give encouragement and inspiration to others.

Her achievements on the track were remarkable, but it was the person behind those achievements who made such a lasting impression.

We are heartbroken at her passing. Our thoughts are with Thomas, her family and all those who loved her.

Thank you, Ciara, for the memories, the inspiration and the kindness you shared so freely.

Rest peacefully, Ciara. You will never be forgotten. ❤️

Well done to all our athletes who toed the line today in wet, windy, muddy conditions at the Leinster even age cross country championships.

Iris McCartan took 3rd place in U16, running up an age group, a superb achievement!
Chloe O’Neill finished in the top 10 in U14, great running!

Well done also to Sadhbh Doolan and Gemma Ryan, who gave it their all out on the course.
