SATURDAY TEAM
TOCKWITH FC 11-0 YRK FC
Our first competitive fixture handed us an extremely tough challenge away to Tockwith—a side competing in the Premier Division as recently as last season.
With several players unavailable, we travelled with a bare eleven, no substitutes and several lads playing out of position. Against a well-organised team that played some excellent football, the difference in experience and quality showed.
As tiredness took its toll, Tockwith took full advantage and the scoreline became a difficult one. However, our lads dug deep, continued working for one another and never stopped until the final whistle. Every player gave everything they had for the full 90 minutes, and they should be proud of the commitment and character they showed.
We are a newly formed team at the very beginning of our journey. This result does not define us. We will learn from the experience, continue working and grow stronger together.

We now turn our attention to Riccall United away next Saturday for our opening league fixture.
SUNDAY TEAM
PENNY BLACK 4–2 YRK FC
Another difficult cup draw for YRK saw our Sunday team make the trip north to Stockton to face Penny Black.
We knew the size of the challenge. Penny Black reached the semi-final of this competition last season and came into the game having won three consecutive matches, scoring 16 goals along the way.
YRK started positively and competed well throughout the opening half, with the sides level at 1–1 going into the break. As the home side settled into the game, their confidence grew and their home advantage began to tell.
The lads continued to battle, showed real resilience and kept themselves in the contest, but the game eventually ended in a 4–2 defeat.
Despite the result, it was another encouraging showing from a Sunday team that continues to grow and improve with every game.
However, we understand YRK comfortably won on the parmo count, with Cameron Little reportedly putting away four before kick-off, another two at half-time and three more after the final whistle.
