A Sunday to forget for the rovers on many levels

Congratulations to TVT FC who was by far the better team

One positive was Noah who played one of his best games Sunday despite being the youngest player he was the most mature 🩶🖤

We go again next week

Today we took on Eagles who are winless in the league so far but with a few additional players could be a good team 💙🩶🖤

Rovers started slow but was still creating chances and getting into some good positions down the wings but could find that killer touch in front of goal.

Eagles went close with back to back low driven corners but was defended well by the lads who seemed to of taken on board the advice about set pieces from last week.

A tactical change from Higgs saw him bring himself off even tho he was impacting the game he felt a bit more pace could open the game up and see Rovers take the lead with Squeak coming on.

10 minutes later some brilliant football from the lads saw squeak beat his man and drive towards goal his shot was saved but push straight to Robbo who the ball deflected off into the path of Krystian who fired home from point blank range scoring his first goal for the Rovers and his first game back after 5 weeks off after a nasty injury.

It looked like the ball hit Robbos arm before falling to Krystian but not in the eyes of the referee who gave the goal but one of the Eagles player massively disagreed and was sin binned.

With a few minutes to go in the first half Robbo made a run in behind and was flagged offside let’s say he didn’t agree with this and was also sin binned both teams down to 10 going into half time.

A close second half saw both team create chance but nothing clear cut a few pop shots going wide or easy saves for the keepers.

It looked to be a 1-0 game till Robbo found himself in behind the Eagles defence and put his cross in that was perfectly slotted into the bottom corner by the Eagels defender 2-0.

Credit to Eagles who didn’t give up and continued to look for a goal this saw Rovers counter attack and a ball played to squeak who beat his man and in an attempt to stop the shot squeak was brought down in the box penalty

Captain Bish gave squeak the opportunity to make up for his missed penalty early in the session and this time he sent the keeper the wrong way a slotted home 3-0

A big 3 points and a first clean sheet for the lads 🩶🖤

Sunday was an emotional one for the Rovers with a few players loosing family members in the week and we’d like to thank Perdiswell for agreeing to a minutes silences and also the Rovers lads who’s been understanding and respectful 🩶🖤

The game started fast with both team creating chances with Bish have the best five minutes in found him self in loads of space in the perdi box turning and shooting but his shot going just wide of the post

Perdi was also push but some fantastic defending and keeping kept the score at 0-0

Rovers came close with a Higgs shot from out side the box just going over the bar and Louie and Ellis coming close with some good efforts

Rovers finally took their chance when a bouncing ball look like it was going straight into the hands of the Perdi keeper but he hesitated and didn’t know if he was coming or going so Bish stuck in knocking the ball back to Higgs who decided now was the perfect time to do the shuffles from the warm up back to goal beat his defender and got his low driven cross in finding Bish who made no mistake this time and flicking the ball past the keeper

2 minutes to go and instead of seeing the game out Rovers over played and lost the ball then a switch of play saw Ryan 1on1 and made an attempt to get the ball but brought down his player instead penalty despite his best efforts Marcin just missed the ball 1-1

Half time lads was left deflated after defending very well for 45 minutes

Second half and both teams continued to create chances but a suspicious penalty was again given to Perdi but this time Marcin made a fantastic double save to keep it at 1-1

A few changes and Perdi controlling most of the game but Rovers defending kept the game level

Then a lapse of concentration from a corner and free kick saw Perdi go two goal ahead within 10 minutes

Rovers pushed but couldn’t find that end product 🩶🖤

A disappointing first 15 minutes saw the rovers 3-0 down and embarrassing score line looming against high flyers West Warndon who was showing why whey they’re undefeated and join top.

After spending most of the first half on the back foot Rovers managed to create some decent chances on the counter attack and came close hitting the post and a few near misses but it was Warndon who took advantage making it 4-0 going into half time.

Some strong words and few changes saw the Rovers come out second half with a point to prove and started well just could find that finishing touch.

On came squeak then off went squeak with the ref thinking it was Christmas the amount of cards he was handing out and threatening to hand out 🤦‍♂️

But down to 10 and a few injury’s saw a make shift cb partnership of Matt and Higgs who kept the Wardon front line quiet with a bit of luck on their side with Warndon missing some decent chances in the second half.

Rovers were playing much better with the 10 men and everyone gave their all and this paid of with a rocket from Nat scoring the only goal of the second half 🩶🖤

Sunday we take on West Warndon fc who are joint top and undefeated this season. With Rovers being the massive underdogs we look forward to the challenge ahead.

With a lot of familiar faces playing for Warndon the banter has already started with Warndon’s very own Jam Arne Risse Owen Davis giving it beans already 👀👀

Sunday we took on our sister club Phoenix in what was an even game and saw the rovers battle and defend very well against a team now top of the table.

Marcin made some very good saves and some last ditch defending from MOTM coops saw the game stay level with Phoenix have more clear cut chances.

Unfortunately lacking in height cost the Rovers with Phoenix seeming to have a team full of giants 👀😂 Scoring in the second half from 2 identical corners.

Rovers pushed and had a few chances but nothing clear cut.
