The aim of Milton Keynes Radio Controlled Car Club (MKRCCC) is to give people from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas somewhere to race a variety of on-road electric RC cars. We currently have around 50 active racers, young and old, with a full range of abilities from Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. We predominantly race electric touring cars, mini's and GT12 circuit cars although we also ca

ter for other classes such as LMP, World GTs and F1s when there is demand. We provide a well run club that finds a balance between providing close, competitive racing without taking it too seriously. We ensure that newcomers are made welcome, whatever their level of skill and experience, and are offered all the support they need by more experienced racers to develop and improve but most importantly to enjoy themselves. A number of our members have disabilities and the club will try to make any adjustments we can to enable everyone to race and to join in.

Sunday 7th June is the next round of the Summer Series (except GT12 because of the Eastern Regionals at Bedford). Brendan will be running the meeting solo this week so please offer him every help with set up, running the meeting and packing away.

Our next club meeting is a change from the normal and is on Saturday 30th May. Doors open at 12 noon, and we aim to be done by just after 6pm. That's an hour longer than normal so will aim to get more track time for everyone. All our regular classes are welcome (MTC, FWD MTC / M-Chassis, Tamiya TT01/02, Mini and GT12 with all of its varients. Will you be racing? If so as always comment below with name(s) and class(es). A like by Ian means entry acknowledged.

Of course Sunday 31st is the MTC National, booking in has now closed but your more than welcome to pop in for a chat and watch some on track action

By now everyone should have their copy of the 2026 BRCA Members Handbook. We are sure you have read it cover to cover so the following information should not be a surprise. In the handbook there is information about the insurance your BRCA membership provides and a set of General Rules which apply equally to big race meetings and club meetings.

Section 3 of the General Rules covers marshalling and states that "all Marshals must wear hi-viz". Elsewhere in the handbook it also states that "marshals are responsible for their own safety". The implication is that if you are marshalling a race and an incident happens that means you think you need to make a claim via the BRCA, it is likely to be more difficult if you were not wearing a Hi Viz. Thankfully there has never been such a case at the club so far but that should not make us complacent.

At race control we now have a supply of Hi Viz vests in various sizes, pick one up when you go to marshal and return it before going back to the pits. Or you can wear one of your own. However the decision to wear one or not is yours, race control will not be chasing people who are not wearing one.

It's also worth reading the chapter on Insurance and the RC Racer, in particular the section on Marshalling to understand when you are and are not covered by the insurance via the BRCA. If you have any questions about this then talk to Ian in the first instance.

OMG we are nearing the halfway stage of the Summer Series already and Sunday is also the last chance to get some Sunday practice in before the MTC National. Sunday 24th May, will you be racing? As always comment below with name(s) and class(es), a like by Ian means entry acknowleged.

Don't forget that the following club meeting is on Saturday 30th - 12 noon till around 6ish, booking in will be via the usual FB post. Sunday 31st is our round of the MTC National with booking in via the BRCA Website. As we've said many times, no matter how good or otherwise you think you are, there will be people of all ability and it will be a great experience to compete in something a little more formal with other racers. if you have an eligable MTC then get booked in ASAP

With Sunday 31st May being the MTC National, we will be running a club meeting on Saturday 30th instead for all our usual classes (non championship round), doors open at 12 noon and we aim to be done no later than 6.30pm. This is a slightly longer time slot than a regular Sunday morning which should allow for even more track time. There will be a booking in post going out on the Monday prior as usual.

Speaking of the MTC National - we'd absolutely encourage everyone with a eligable MTC car to give it ago. These events are aimed at people of every ability so don't worry if you think your not good enough - there will be others of a similar standard. Booking in is via the BRCA site https://www.brca.org/events/mtc but don't leave it too long as spaces are starting to fill up.

Sunday 10th May is round 2 of the Summer Series*, will you be racing. If so comment below with name(s) and class(es). This week a like by Brendan means entry confirmed. Also on Sunday we had very few numbers helping pack away (and most of those that did were people that helped set up) - this is a club and provided your phyically able we expect everyone racing to do their fair share in both setting up and packing away.

* except GT12 as there is no GT12 championship rounds on dates there are Eastern Regionals. A final reminder for all GT12 and Tamiya Truck drivers to get booked into round 1, Wednesday is the last day entries are accepted https://www.brca.org/12th-gt-regional-east-anglia

With the Sea Cadets getting settled into their new home, we are seeing more of an overlap when we are at the hall and when the Sea Cadet organisers are at the hall. With this in mind we have been asked to make a couple of further tweaks to how we organise things;

1. As cars maybe coming into the hall as we are leaving, use the entry and exit routes. This means opening up (and if no Sea Cadets turn up also closing and locking) and exiting via the gate nearest the main road.

2. As the Sea Cadet people may want to use the kitchen and either directly or hire out one of the upstairs rooms to avoid pitting in kitchen and hall corridoor. This has the biggest impact on us as it means we need to find around 10 more pitting spaces. In the short term we will reduce the size of the track slightly to create a little more pitting area in the main hall. Other options are being explored which may give us a better answer.

Both of these changes come into effect from this Sunday's meeting.
