A brilliant day for Witham at The Halstead and Essex Marathon. The men’s team came away with a podium finish, our marathoners flew the colours across the course, and our volunteers kept the field going on the water stations. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who wore the black and gold today. 🖤💛

Which for us means four things!

1: The Pub run season is back!

Our schedule is here. On Tuesday we're at the Western Arms in Silver end. Guest/trial runners are always welcome.

There are 4-6 mile routes (road or trail) available. Each week starts at 7pm followed by food/drink for those who wish to support our local pubs. We meet from 6.45pm.

We also meet on Thursdays at 7.30pm for a coached session (see photos of last night's)

2: Our membership year has just begun. Standard Membership is just an annual fee of £30 plus £23 if you want the EA licence. Come along and give us a trial first before joining 😁

3: It means our May Day 10 mile race is just two weeks away.

4: Good luck to all runners who are running marathons over the next few weeks. Last weekend we had 8 runners taking on Boston (UK) and Brighton marathon.

Then over the next month or so we have runners taking on:

Manchester and Marathon du lac d’Annecy this weekend!

Halstead and
Edinburgh

Our members were out at Maldon and Chelmsford parkruns today helping spread the word about the May Day 10.

May Day 10 – Monday 4th May

Entries are now open for the May Day 10.

This is a well-established, club-run 10-mile race with a great route and a strong local atmosphere. A solid option for anyone looking to test themselves or build into their next race.

We’re only a few months into the year, but there have already been some really solid team performances. It’s not always easy fitting relays into spring plans, but everyone showed up and put in the work.

CELEBRATING OUR WRC WOMEN THIS INTERNATIONAL WOMENS DAY

This year’s theme is about the power of generosity and support.

WRC would not be the community it is without the women who so generously give their time, energy and expertise to it.

Our dedicated Chair, committee members, coaches, run directors, experienced and newer members are proof that when women thrive, we all gain.

Who else spotted our May Day 10 sign at Markshall Estate parkrun this morning?

You can enter online here. 50% of all race profits will be donated to local charities. This year we will donate around £4,000.

One of the beneficiaries of our 2026 race will be The Robin Cancer Trust. You will also see our banner tomorrow at the Colchester Half.

Just a few snapshots of the fun we've had over the last month or so.

As training blocks build we've run on the roads, the trails and also the track.

We now enter the last month of our membership year and also the last month of winter daylight hours!

Want to give us a go, take until the 1st of April for free before our membership renews for the year.

Membership is just £30 per year and pays for your coaching, team events, track and school hire, subsidised kit and socials amongst numerous other things.

There are 200+ of us from 18-77 years of age, we have social paces from 7min miles to 12mins per mile.
