𝐖𝐢𝐬𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐔𝟏𝟕 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
In the 𝙀𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣 𝘾𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙐17𝙨 programme finale, Wyley Chapman made an impressive debut despite Eastern Counties falling to a 28–17 defeat against rivals Essex this weekend.
Played in extreme heat, Wyley produced an outstanding 60-minute performance in the back row against a powerful and physical Essex side. Fellow Wisbech debutant Tom Wicks also gained valuable representative experience in the final fixture of the season.

Meanwhile, Macca, Joe, Trystan, Tom and Ryan all represented 𝘾𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙜𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝙐17𝙨 against Norfolk this past weekend, completing the county programme for the season with a victory that, alongside their earlier win against Suffolk, secured the Three Counties Championship for another year.
The match was played in blistering heat on a hard pitch and all the lads made excellent contributions throughout. Coaches’ pick went to Trystan for a terrific full-game debut at tight-head prop — an almost unheard-of effort in such demanding conditions.

A well-earned summer break now awaits all the players before they return for the U18 Colts programme at the start of next season.

Wisbech Junior Rugby can reflect on an outstanding representative season, with several debutants stepping up to this elite pathway during the year.

Unfortunately the result did not go Eastern Counties U17s way in their Championship clash against Hertfordshire U17s, but in spite of being in the loosing side, Wisbech RUFC’s Thomas oozed class with a hat trick of tries 🔥

1. 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔: • 𝟏𝟎.𝟑𝟎 Ground will be open for coaches, players etc. • 𝟏𝟐.𝟎𝟎 Junior Cup Final – 𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙨 𝙫𝙨 𝙍𝙤𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙣 𝙄𝙄
2. Trophy presentations will take place on the pitch immediately following the conclusion of the match.
3. Changing rooms – there are limited changing rooms available at Grange Road. Teams will be able to use them according to the timetable attached but must clear their bags and other kit from the room at the end of their time slot.
4. Clubs will be responsible for safeguarding their own kit. It is possible that an enclosed gazebo/tent may be available for teams to place bags in at their own risk.
5. Warm up for the Junior Cup final will be on the main pitch
6. Cup Final squads can be up to 19 players on the condition that at least 5 of the 19 are capable of playing in the Front Row.
8. Teams are expected to provide their own first aid cover for their players during the match.
9. In the event of a draw, the winners of the cup will be: a. The side which scored the most tries; b. If the number of tries is level, then the side which scored the most converted tries.
10. Post match food will be provided for players, coaches and match officials. Arrangements for food will be advised on the day.
11. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚 and food and refreshments will be on sale.
12. Clubs are asked to support the venue and not to bring their own drinks to the ground. Licensing laws mean that CURUFC are not permitted to allow drink to be brought on site other than that which they sell, stewards will search bags if necessary and confiscate any items found.
13. 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 - It will not be possible for spectators, players or club officials to park at the ground.
14. There is on-street parking available on the streets around Grange Road but it is chargeable and can be busy. Car sharing is advised as is the use of the City’s Park and Ride facilities. The U1 and U2 buses stop outside the ground and run from the city centre and the railway station.
